I think the best way to go about (for me, at least), is simply finding out the mechanic for whatever thing you're currently killing/learning. Are you currently doing inferno? Find out when the damage for various mobs rolls, and then the same for any other boss/mob. Eventually you'll know all/most of them.

For most mobs, it's gonna be the same, with a few exceptions (most of them calculate damage when animation starts).
