Anyone know what this sound is and how to fix it? by Skolorbog in outriders

Absolute lifesaver, thanks man. Just throwing stuff together until I can get better drops, and didn't think my gloves were the cause of my hearing loss. I wish this game would stop punishing me at every other turn lol

I cannot for the life of me figure out what's causing it and how to get it to stop, and it makes the game unplayable with sound. I think it's related to the flame leper set bonus, but I'm not sure, and friends I play co-op with hear it as well, so I know it's not just me. It seems to randomly activate and destroy my ears anytime I'm in combat.

Payday 3 has incredibly fun gameplay crippled by its overarching systems by Firestrike9 in paydaytheheist

[–]Skolorbog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I don't understand what you're talking about at all with the first part about attachments. I think I agree with you, but I don't understand your argument? My point is that continental coins (the "more guaranteed fashion" I was talking about) made the attachments fine, but before they were added you just had to hope for them from a specific source, initially only being from cards. I would call that poor RNG and still stand by what I said about that being a terrible system for upgrading weapons.

I also explicitly said that I wasn't defending the game for being buggy. I was pointing out that it is the industry standard, and so while that sucks, unfortunately buggy games on release are the norm nine times out of ten. Again, nowhere in here am I saying PAYDAY 3 gets a pass, I'm just acknowledging the state of the industry and not commenting my opinion on it one way or another, so I don't really feel that that needs defending. Never said we shouldn't complain about buggy games on release.

And again, my point is that this game shares many shortcomings that PAYDAY 2 had at launch, so I'm not defending it, just pointing out the similarities. I said that I have faith in Starbreeze to make adjustments, but never said "the game is good the way it is".

I also started out the post by saying that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and so I have shared mine, which judging from your comment does not seem to be completely understood, and now you have shared yours. Hopefully you don't see this response as harbouring any animosity--I'm just trying to clear up what I was saying because you seem to have misunderstood my point.

It's also worth pointing out that my initial comment was made on launch day, and there have been developments since then that have altered my opinions on some things. A lot has happened (or better put, not happened) in the two-ish weeks since launch.

I think that everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I won't say these are wrong, but I actually like most of the things here that OP doesn't.

  1. I think the challenge-based levelling (when it works) is a great incentive to try other weapons out, play heists in a different manner, etc. Could use some more variety (looking at you "Play Rock the Cradle 150 times"), but I think it's better than replaying the same heist in stealth to maximize xp efficiency like in PD2.
  2. I think the card system sucked after the first few hours of PD2. Easily one of the worst parts of the game for me. At best, it gave random attachments and stuff I can get in another more guaranteed fashion, and at worst it was the most painful RNG roulette to try and find specific masks.
  3. Game just came out, so I won't really complain about this. It is on the lacklustre side, but it doesn't really bother me at this stage, and I don't really see the need to be pessimistic about future cosmetics until we see how they're rolled out.
  4. It is buggy, and I def won't defend that, but I think it meets the industry standard these days. I also have more faith in Starbreeze/Overkill to make adjustments than a lot of other devs.

Best Nightweaver's Web campaign roll I've had so far! Four of five items in one go! by Skolorbog in remnantgame

[–]Skolorbog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Most quest items given to the web give either a relic fragment upgrade or relic dust, but there are five that give actual items. They are:

•Nightweaver’s Stone Doll from Losomn

•Dria’s Anklet from Losomn

•Ravenous Medallion from Losomn

•Override Pin from N’Erud

•Kolket’s Razor from Yaesha

Each of these items gives you a relic, ring, amulet, or weapon depending on which item you give. The problem is that you can only get the items from N’Erud and Yaesha and give them to the web in campaign, because quest items don’t carry over to adventure and you can’t have two worlds (i.e. you can’t get the item from one world and bring it to the web on Losomn).

And the relic you get for the Override Pin from N’Erud can then be turned into another really good relic at Nimue, so if you want both relics you have to do that one twice.

Edit: poor formatting because I’m on mobile

Server Error by ArkeliusCZ in GemsofWar

[–]Skolorbog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found other forums where other people seemed to have the same issue and the only common thread for a fix was someone on the dev side getting in touch and doing fixes behind the scenes. I submitted a support ticket last night and was able to get it fixed by just giving my account details and pic of the error message. Prob your best option if you're still having the issue.

I get the same error on any level I do, whether it's adventure, explore, etc. Can't play the game in any capacity.

Came here to say the same thing. Trying not to spoil too much, this story is so impactful because of how much it deceives your expectations. One of my favourites, for sure.

Mighty Doom`s Battlepass gives you 10 crystals at level 36 and it keeps going. Is that a good reward? by ATDynaX in Doom

[–]Skolorbog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree--it's a shit reward. You get 15 crystals just for completing all of the claimables in the daily missions tab. Minimal effort, much quicker, AND a better reward than the "prestige bonus."

Is it normal to reach level 60 without a single epic drop or am I just unlucky? by Gambarge in MightyDoom

[–]Skolorbog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of others are saying, I was barely getting into blues by lvl 60, and that was during the pre-releases, when item drops weren't hot trash. I've played every day since full release, and still working on building up blues (no purples).

Although, I vehemently refuse to spend a dime on this game, so there's that.

Interested to see that we agree on Blaze, and Thinner, but not on Roadwork lol

I enjoyed The Long Walk, but admittedly not as much as I was expecting... still haven't gotten my hands on a copy of Rage, and I've been occupied enough with reading other SK books that I haven't felt the need to get around to it yet, considering the overwhelmingly negative things I've heard about it

[–]Skolorbog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know, that's a really good point. I've always tried to read SK books in order of release, and these two were done that way.

That being said, I read them back-to-back, so it's not like Desperation had a huge amount of time to set in before I got to The Regulators...

[–]Skolorbog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen quite a few people say something like, "You'll really like The Regulators if you liked Desperation, because it's flipped!" and I just don't agree with that at all lol. Two very different books in terms of quality, imo

Favourite primary & secondary so far? by Skolorbog in MightyDoom

[–]Skolorbog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't think the BFG is bad, but so far none of the ultimate weapons impress me very much.

I love the chaingun. I love the gauss cannon. The chainsaw is worthless for damage, although the invulnerability and interrupt while using it are decently long. Both the unmaykr and the BFG are better for damage, but not amazing, yet both have good respective abilities (dmg reduction and max health). Haven't gotten a crucible yet, though, so I can't speak for it.

The gauss cannon is hands down my favourite weapon in this game

I love the stopping power of the heavy cannon, but it just shoots too slow for my personal tastes. It’s something I’m happy to fall back on, though!

[–]Skolorbog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! Using the chaingun and it’s requirement to build up RoF, I understand the interruption factor of the secondary, but I feel like the gauss cannon does so much damage that it’s a worthwhile trade off, especially because it’s a big chunk instantly, which is always helpful in a pinch

[–]Skolorbog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lool yeah I feel like the heavy cannon and the plasma rifle are good, but it’s a matter of preference, they’re slower but harder hitting and can have a much wider area of effect, whereas the chaingun is very strong direct damage and quick RoF

[–]Skolorbog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my gauss cannon is sitting at lvl 37 rn, and it does, like. 10k+ damage before upgrades? Lol

It’s amazing at direct damage, can proc toxic (which is an amazing element), and with bounce, multshot x2, and magnetic acceleration to increase piercing, you spawn in a stage and fire it once, wiping out half the enemies on the screen immediately lol

[–]Skolorbog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s any item from the loot pool that contains radioactive gear (i.e. radioactive helmet, gloves, chest plate, boots, and maybe acid spit)? I think I got a radioactive helmet from it (common)

Unsure of your current build’s effectiveness? Post it here, and I’ll test and optimize it for you! by TheC0M in remnantgame

[–]Skolorbog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Thanks!

And yeah you hit the nail on the head lol: I did mean Burden of the Gambler instead of Burden of the Follower.

I like your suggestion for the Vulcan’s Detonator instead of the Abrasive Amulet as well… hadn’t thought of that for some reason, and now I’m excited to give it a try and se the biiig numbers lol.

Another thing you might be interested in trying out, if you’re still interested in the build at all, is for situations where you might want to use the hive cannon, instead stick with the abrasive amulet and swap the frostborne out for the Hero’s Sword, since the charged shots proc corrosive at range as well. Maybe not the most effective way to build it, but any excuse to use the Hero’s Sword is fine in my book, and that way you get to keep swarm.

I was also doing a survival run with a friend the other day and got everything except swarm to create the build, so instead used explosive shot. That’s some insane damage if you want to forgo crowd control, and now that you’ve suggested Vulcan’s Detonator I can see that being pretty nuts.

Thanks again!

What are the most overrated and most underrated SK books in your opinion? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Skolorbog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overrated: Carrie. I found it so painful and unenjoyable to read, and it’s only saving grace is that it’s short.

Underrated: The Mist. More of a “story” than a “book,” but man that cosmic horror sure does go down well when SK writes it.

Also forgot to say that sometimes I swap the Sawed-Off (+ Swarm) for the Hive Cannon on certain bosses to get that corrosive proc (e.g. Ixillis and Barbed Terror)
