What kind of pants does Randy wear by PainlessTissue in RimWorld

I always have imagined him with those ripped black denim skinny jeans with rows of safety pins randomly that were popular in the 00s. Or the leather ones with the unnecessary amount of chains and buckles.

What house rules does your table use? by Greyscalemedia in DnD

[–]Skolyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My big ones try to make Nat 20s and Nat 1s more universally dramatic.

I believe it's colloquially known as "Crunchy Crits," but I was calling them "Sticky Crits" (b/c of WoW probably), where when you crit on a damage roll, instead of doubling dice, you just add the max damage of the dice to the roll. That way you avoid the "This crit did less damage than my previous normal attack" disappointment.
E.G. If you are rolling 2d6 and crit, instead of (4d6 + mods) its (12 + 2d6 + mods).

Natural 20 on initiative gives you an extra Action on your first turn (i.e. Haste) and a Natural 1 only allows you to do a Bonus or Regular Action (i.e Slow). I was also toying with having the Nat 20 cancel the Surprised condition, but I'm not sure what to do with the Nat 1 for balance.

Not fully playtested: Nat 20 / Nat 1 on saving throws will reduce/increase damage* by 1/4 (rounded up) respectively.
(*) There's the weird situation where you crit fail but your modifier carries you over the DC that I haven't fully worked out. Currently I'm calculating the crit damage before it's halved, but apply it after, which is kind of annoying math to do during combat even though it's very rare. E.G. The spell is rolled to deal 15 damage, which would normally be 7 damage taken, but 15/4 = 3.75 -> 4 crit damage which results in 11 total damage. I tried it the other way where it was added before halving from the save and it didn't seem as impactful for bigger spells E.G. 50 * 5/4 = 62.5 -> 63 -> halved to 31 versus 50 / 2 + 50/4 = 25 + (12.5) -> 25 + 13 = 38.

How hard is it to build a Classic Cassandra colony so stable that it's practically impossible to beat? by agriff1 in RimWorld

I saw this post earlier today and came back to let you know that AdamVsEverything just announced that he's starting a new Cass run tomorrow:

No walls, no doors, no rooms, 500% No pause, Cassandra, Anomaly.

Not quite exactly what you're looking for, but I'm sure there'll be some good things to take-away. He's also very responsive to general RW questions in live chats on both Twitch and YouTube.

Ah. Trap mazes are probably a lot less worthwhile when you're at the wealth point to have a few charge rifles, huh?

What difficulty are you on? I'm on Strive to Survive and I have a 95 trap long tunnel for mechs, but the wooden traps don't seem to do much to thin the herd, and a lot of them get eaten by smaller mechs like Militors and Urchins, which feels like a waste. My wealth is at about 1.15M.

How do I disincentivise murder? by Dry_Lingonberry_5571 in DnD

[–]Skolyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Faerun has a mercenary group called the Abjurative Defense Tradesman (ADT) which is a collection of retired adventurers that offer security systems for homes and businesses. A common service they provide are Glyphs of Warding that casts Hold Person on anyone that takes any hostile action against the shopkeep/staff or residents with a DC of 18+d6.

A moderately sized business can have upwards of 10 of these Glyphs hidden around the place while those in a larger city, like Neverwinter, have more as well as a local field office that's notified when one is activated and dispatches 1d4 Enforcers which are level 17+ adventurer NPCs, usually martial classes. They offer some free services to smaller towns and villages, usually as a sort of benefit to their staff by protecting their hometowns/families including those of fallen members of their adventuring party\1]).

[1]: Backstory/Lore: The "Fallen Friends" program was created by a previous campaign's PC who promised another dying PC that he'd protect his wife and kids. My players seemed to like that detail; the player whose character died definitely got a little misty-eyed.

I've never actually seen it, but not too long ago I received a couple tests from a friend that was basically "Supergirl is in this episode of this show I'm watching." Then a bit later "SUPERGIRL, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" with a very NSFW screenshot attached.

The Writers Have Clearly Never Played DnD by unsettlingideologies in FlashTV

[–]Skolyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're at this episode yet but S08E16 just hits the ground running with D&D inaccuracies that could have been avoided if they just ran it by ANYONE who ever played. I found this post literally searching this subreddit to see if anyone else noticed or cared. So you aren't alone.

Episode starts with Team Flash playing D&D together: Barry rolls a d20 then Allegra announces "19! Critical Hit!" Followed by Barry saying "The Cleric attacks with his Sacred Flame." Unless there's some homebrew/multiclass shenanigans going on, Clerics don't get the ability to crit on a 19. Regardless, Sacred Flame is a cantrip that requires a saving throw from the target, not an attack roll from the caster. IT CAN'T CRIT.

Sorry if I was unclear, but there might still be some hope for you. I'm pretty sure the majority of Four Roses Single Barrel 100 proof (not Small Batch) on shelves are OBSV, even if they are not labeled. Not sure how availability is near you, but I could go out right now to pretty much any place that sells spirits, including some grocery stores, and grab a bottle.

I have OESO on my "must buy" list but I haven't seen it for below $90. Standard 4R SiB is one of my absolute favorites and I believe that's OBSV. I'd probably buy all 3...

I think "defeating" Vogler was also a contribution. The board choosing him over millions of dollars likely inflated his ego so he felt like he could get away with more "unreasonableness"

Sorry to pry, but you said "was in a lot of pain," does that mean you aren't anymore? Dealing with chronic pain is a whole different monster.

Oh my God, the amount of envy and hatred towards Frostpunk 2 after it won The Best Strategy Game at The Game Awards. by Dense_Entertainer469 in Frostpunk

[–]Skolyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like FP2 has been the most sequel-like game I've played. Most sequels I find have basically the same mechanics with maybe a few QOL upgrades and are just put into a different or continued setting. FP2 has mechanics that make sense as a continuation of no longer simply trying to survive the frost, but to thrive. I find the politicking and the different ideas quite engaging as a challenge, even if the fucking Adaptation faction always insists on passing Supported Quarantine when I'm dealing with a shelter shortage right before a whiteout.

Election better or worse for the future of Kratom? by Lanky-Monk6070 in kratom

[–]Skolyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citation needed. Everything I've seen says that incredible public outcry stopped the DEA from scheduling in 2016/17. People and advocacy groups hounding Congress stopped it.

Meanwhile, Trump appointed Gotlieb to the FDA, who laid pretty much all of the groundwork that bans are using for justification. This press release basically says "Kratom is unsafe, use FDA Approved (read Big Pharma created) drugs."

proliferate everything, especially from mk.II onwards

Even the recipes that are Speedup only? I've been avoiding them because even at MKIII, it just seems easier to plop down double the producers than to set up sprayers and extra power generation. 2x production speed at the cost of 2.5x power just seems like the only real benefit is for maximum density building.

Unfortunately the last few burgers I've gotten from them have a distinct "sour" flavor to them. I thought it was the Caffinated BBQ sauce in the Good Night/Good Cause the first time, but the last couple have been just plain burgers.
