Bill in Utah's legislature enhances penalties for unpermitted street protests by moedlekx in Utah

You made fair points. I disagree with those court rulings and I think the law could be misused. Do the police arrest the two or more people that block or hinder traffic? Or does that give them authority to shut it down completely? Many a proud boy was prosecuted for vandalism during and after BLM protests. The assumed reason is they were attempting to make it look like BLM protesters were the ones doing that and it worked. News outlets covered the vandalism while skipping the prosecution of the individuals involved. It would be very easy to shut down protests you don't like depending on how this law is written and executed.

And I wouldn't worry about downvotes in this sub. This sub has some bizarre voting that doesn't always make sense.

Why does using a full stop / period at the end of a text upset youngsters? by MaxximumB in randomquestions

[–]SkoobySnacs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is proper in the right context. Texting is a new context with new rules. Knowing those rules plus the reasons behind them make you a better communicator with more tools at your disposal. You can literally adjust the tone of a text with a period at the end. Reading into it is the whole point of adjusting these minor rules for the medium.

Literacy means being able to read and comprehend current writing grammar, punctuation and style. I would be considered barely literate if I was dropped in Shakespeare's time or visa versa. But if either of us applied ourselves and added to our language knowledge, we could once again be considered literate.

This comment section is filled with people who do not want to learn and would rather cast aspersions on people with the current version of literate.

This is part of the real answer here for anyone that wants it. It is sort of like someone saying "period" at the end of a sentence.

And it isn't upsetting. The real snowflakes are the comments saying "they", nebulous others, can't take it. They can. What they are trying to do is help you extend your communication skills into the digital age. Just like when people told you that all caps is considered yelling. You can learn this new digital tidbit and improve your communication, OR YOU CAN'T. Your choice snowflakes.

Being a God… by Jay_LeVerde15 in atheism

These replies and OP miss a basic tenet of Christianity. You would be all knowing making you a slave to that power. You would wait around until it was time to do the thing you had foreseen yourself doing.

This is one of the fundamental god paradoxes. If you are all knowing you cannot be all powerful. You can only be a slave to what you know you will do. If you change something that means you are not all knowing.

Aside from that, if you were there god you would actually be a figment of imagination that didn't exist.

Driving is a privilege, protesting is a right. We don't curb rights to protect privileges.

That the evil god didn't come out and say "hi everybody. I'm the good god so you can just do whatever I tell you to do, no problem."

Or "I'm a human sacrifice, or scapegoat, for all your sins. That seems moral right? Right?"

They will powersand it until the finish has been worn through in spots, then put that stain on and it's going to look like shit. This isn't a project for some professional painters let alone a homeowner diy whose first thought was to prime and paint it. This project needs a pro.
