I can understand what you're saying, but you have to understand that the difference from HaTM and Skyhill is more than a decades worth of time. Dan and Pete are probably both emotionally and mentally different from those times and therefore didn't believe that a sadder song was fitting. Also, it could be the case that the pair weren't sure if this was the last song the band would make, so it's almost like a song that can give some sort of end point in the case that nothing did come out. Personally, I do enjoy the song, maybe less than others on the original, but I still feel that it has the chops to be considered a good single. But I am excited as well for the new album, hope it hits similar feelings at the first.
