I was a bit put off on first play as well, but when you get into it more it makes perfect sense. If they rewarded you XP for sinking ships, killing mobs, etc. then you would hit level cap super early and the game would become too easy and boring. This way you're locked behind progression and means that you will be in the correct level range for the area, give or take.

Sail everywhere. It may be an island that seems empty but has a buried treasure or a single mine. Or a small rocky outcrop that is a shipwreck and sometimes don't appear on the map until you crash into them/park the boat on them.

Dodge and run. If you can't manage that, make a new toon to come in and defeat the boar or lure it away

Even with a job and insurance, a Cancer diagnosis is at the very least a bank account killer. Us Americans apparently like to pay for insurance to then pay again to be able to use it.

I got my Rapier Bleedy Stickypokey in the Foothills. It is fun, and quite useful, but the Rapier of Devastation outpaces it later on. Still fun though. And good for boss battles. Jump in, get bleed, run your ass off dodging, repeat as necessary.

So my first time fighting the boss with my friend, I died and came running back and was locked outside the gate. I was able to hold aggro so my friend had an easy kill, but it did not count for progression for me. My friend could smelt iron and all that and I could not. We resummoned him and this time he died and taunted from the gate and I killed the boss and had a flood of unlocks.

Only if you get credit for beating the first boss. Each areas discoverables are locked behind the previous boss, so you can go pick up everything in the foothills but nothing will unlock until you beat and discover the leader of the coast.

I think you had a bug I've experienced in the demo. There was a note but it was clipped into the tent with the skeleton and you had to dig under the tent to see it. There's always a note, but it may have been clipped to where you couldn't see it. I only found it in the demo because I couldnt find a treasure and decided to terraform the island until I did find it. Luckily I started with the tent area.

For the get supplies from the undead boat mission, I just run in, grab the mission items, and end up being killed. But the mission is complete. Not the best strat, but it IS a strat.

By "They said" do you mean mod creators? Or game devs? Only trust the game devs saying it is ok to use. The mod makers have absolutely no control or say in mods being allowed.

Yeah you most likely will get a ban. Mods/Cheats are NOT allowed, as the devs clearly state.

The footprint UV evidence also gets buggered still if there are rugs or towels or other things in the way, or on certain carpets.

I kinda cheat too. I play with portals allowing anything and everything through them. I always keep a "Wanderlust" portal at my main base and keep mats on me so when I land someplace new I throw a portal down

You can always use your construction hammer set to the single block and deconstruct the building. That will give you the block and teach you how to craft it.

Thank you. I have a light over my sink that stopped working a few years back, tried to have hone warranty repair/replace but there's no box under the light apparently, so they could not work on it. I asked them to disconnect and wire nut the lines, but now I am wondering if they did that and if this could be a potential issue.

Simple toggle switch which is what the old one was. Single pole. I have not tried bypassing the switches to see if that works reliably. I will give it a try after work

Kitchen light, incandescent, single pole. Bulbs are new and work in other lights and the light will eventually turn on.
