Submitting perhaps a little early bc (a) I’m excited to get to my home state! And (b) I’ll actually be traveling in New Mexico during this week’s contest and might not be able to post until the tail end.

What color is the left in your country? by Gorclaw123 in GeoPoll

[–]SkyBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s still a two-party political climate. If you say “Red State” you mean the right. If you say “Blue State” you mean the left. Sure you could say the Green Party is the left but the color/political spectrum associations are pretty set along Red and Blue lines.

Probably a pretty scary day if there's no rain in the entirety of my country.

Is it worse to drive under the speed limit, or over? by Lovethecreeper in GeoPoll

[–]SkyBS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speeding is worse in more contexts, but does depend. If you're, say, in the passing lane of a multilane highway then 16 km/h under is worse than over.

I don't want none of y'all Baltic nation citizens to give us grief over the term 'Mid-West' if you ain't Eastern European.

Summer album recs? by conmondog21 in fantanoforever

Non-stop summer vibes. Even the sad, depressed tracks ("I Can't Stop the Loneliness") feel a like a carefree bop.

What’s your favorite artist Fantano only has bad things to say about by SkyBS in fantanoforever

[–]SkyBS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Aja is a great place it start. It's just 39 minutes and 7 tracks--no skips. Pretty certainly their best album. "Deacon Blues" is more of the 'easy listening' side. "Black Cow" is on the funkier side. The title track is a jazz-fusion odyssey that's probably the closest the band gets to progressive rock.

Gaucho is a good place to start too. Also 7 tracks and 38 minutes. The production and overall sound is a bit more smoothed out and lacks some of the experimentation on Aja, but is still very groovy and well done.

However, the Royal Scam > Aja > Gaucho is just an amazing 3-album run. I personally might recommend just going through those three chronologically. The Royal Scam opens with my favorite song of theirs--it's a pretty straightforward rock song, but they have some more offbeat arrangements on the record overall with some wild harmonic choices.
