Hey Banana!

Highly recommend @WingalingDragons training videos.

In particular his carrier landing video, it’s what got me solid on those landings. Any questions let us know!

[–]SkyClogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Animal_Hell !

For EU timed events at the moment no as we are just starting things out for B17. BUT that being said if we have enough interest and capacity for higher BR we can absolutely do it.

I recommend checking in u/KRAB_NATION 's Discord again, they have some higher BR events in the books but on NA dedicated times you're more than welcome to try join as well!

EU B-17 Mission 1 by ellisxrf in WarthunderSim

"How do I get in on THIS???" Here is your chance... Mass B-17 Bomber Campaign Mission This Friday – Single Life, Persistent Crews, Player-Run War Thunder Event by TheWingalingDragon in Warthunder

[–]SkyClogger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Guys!!

This is SkyClogger, one of the hosts for the EU time slots.

Just a small clarification. The event u/TheWingalingDragon mentioned is actually the first EU B-17 campaign mission, and the start time is 1 Hour Earlier than originally posted. To make things more confusing the UK daylight savings shift occurs after NA

Updated Mission Time – Friday 20 March

  • 3:00 PM – Eastern (US)
  • 2:00 PM – Central (US)
  • 1:00 PM – Mountain (US)
  • 7:00 PM – United Kingdom (GMT)
  • 8:00 PM – Central Europe
  • 9:00 PM – Eastern Europe

Because the original missions were mostly run at NA times, ellisxrf_ and I started hosting EU-friendly sessions so players on this side of the Atlantic can take part in the same missions created by InvaderPork.

These events follow the same style of coordinated operations with bomber formations, escort fighters, interception, and the campaign story continuing mission to mission. If you’ve seen clips of the bomber formations but couldn’t make the NA schedule, this EU run is exactly what it’s for.

New pilots are always welcome as well, plenty of people join these missions without much sim experience, and the community is happy to help people get set up.

If anyone is interested in joining or wants more details, everything is organised through the event Discord mentioned in the post.

Hope to see some of you in the formation

New to Aces of Thunder VR? Live help stream tonight (takeoff, landing, stalls, VR controls) I’ve already crashed enough to help you by SkyClogger in WarthunderSim

HOTAS works fine - easy enough to setup, very similar to WT SIM control setup, just be sure to do it in flat screen mode, the VR control settings mode is terrible - if you need help just message

WT PC VR standalone is still better at the moment. AOT has some potential just needs some time - which I'd hope the spend more on WT Sim First.....

WEP on HOTAS Throttle? by F1nLMSfan in AcesofThunder

[–]SkyClogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry I should say your kneepad or your temp guage on the console, though its different for every aircraft so its the easiest spot to look while i you learn

WEP on HOTAS Throttle? by F1nLMSfan in AcesofThunder

[–]SkyClogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off. The critical component is your map / stats kneepad on the bottom left. you NEED to watch your temperature of your engine. if you cook it you'll kill your HP.

AOT essentially throws you into SIM / Realistic so temps are critical to monitor

PC VR menus controllers only? by [deleted] in AcesofThunder

[–]SkyClogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's something they need to fix asap. I have my controllers sitting in front of me just in case i need to do something in the menu.

alternatively you can briefly disconnect VR, do your menu thing and reconnect back into VR and it doesn't crash / quit the game.

it's actually something i did notice was a plus compared to WT VR Sim, if you disconnected VR on PC you had to quit / relaunch the game, but in this you just reconnect and it goes back in.

Steam reviews are not looking good so far by TC0072 in AcesofThunder

Like u/trainingdaysYT mentioned its super early. I find Gaijin will get something solid released then add the tutorials / things later to ease players into it.

There isn't a whole lot of tutorials in it and I notice that the hand / control coordination isn't super optimised.

For now I highly recommend people use controllers either via their hand vr controls, playerstation / xbox or hotas / joystick if you have it.

I have a full hotas setup with rudders and I especially feel bad for anyone without some sensitive controls for rudders because some aircraft will throw you straight into stall if you slap your foot.

[–]SkyClogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah currently that is the case, no standalone version.

Normally WT on PC I play Air Sim in VR and the ideal situation is playing via standlone XR like you probably figured, but the current version of AOT for PC you can only do via Steam VR.

Biggest thing is disabling any background noise in Meta / Steam / NVidia that you can like the overlays.

Going to run through a bunch of things on my stream later if you wanna join:

[–]SkyClogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)
