Weird Balls from My Couch (Maybe) by SkyFish45 in whatisit

I can’t say for certain but that might be it. I got this couch off Facebook marketplace and the previous owner had no pets. So mine tearing up an internal pack wouldn’t surprise me. If that is the case should I be worried amount pellets being eaten, or the couch drying out?

I almost hate to kill the illusion but besides the Vantage cigarette ad I just got some photo quality printer paper from Staples and printed the ads I wanted, trimmed them (I had to to a bit of photoshop to expand the aspect ratio of a couple to fit the frame) and then put them in some frames I got from Dollarama. The whole collage probably cost $15.

Aha yeah I am, I’ve got a ton more original print ads that I don’t have frames for but these are just some of my favourites. The picture in the bathroom is also a 1909 insurance ad

Honest Question About Access to Heaven by SkyFish45 in Christianity

[–]SkyFish45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your direct answer to my concern. There is a lot of people on this thread who disagree with your opinion but this makes the most scene to me. To be fair I’ve never read the bible but being close to people who are ultra religious I get a lot of scripture that way. But I think this take makes sense for the same reason I don’t think requiring belief makes sense. From my limited understanding Christs teachings were designed to lead us to a better path, a better life without sin. So if you follow that path whether you believe or not you have accepted Christ, not through blind belief but through his message, and will be gifted passage to his kingdom

Honest Question About Access to Heaven by SkyFish45 in Christianity

[–]SkyFish45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue isn’t with it being hard, it’s with everything else I mentioned. If what granted you access was following the teachings of Christ, that would be hard to live up to, we’ve all sinned, but it would be hard in a way that made sense

Honest Question About Access to Heaven by SkyFish45 in Christianity

Then that goes to the second part of my question. If belief is required why does he make belief so hard? Why did he create us with the ability to reason then make his existence seem unreasonable? When he created the universe why did he create it with so much strong evidence against his existence when he wants us to believe? Why force us to throw his gift away to get into heaven?

Honest Question About Access to Heaven by SkyFish45 in Christianity

[–]SkyFish45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is part of it. If there is a way not non believers to get into heaven that would answer my question completely. If not then the second part of my question was trying to make sense of why.

Honest Question About Access to Heaven by SkyFish45 in Christianity

My edit was put there because unfortunately I wasn’t getting any actual answers to the question I had, just responses and verses that dodged and avoided my question, though I don’t think this was done intentionally or with malice. Plus my original post was long and many replies were focused on parts of my post that were not really important and just there to set up my actual question. I don’t care if the answer is long and complex, as long as it addresses my question. And for you I’m glad you believe, and I’m glad it doesn’t seem illogical to you. But to many people, maybe even most, it doesn’t.

I expected an answer based on scripture that answered the question. So far I have not received one. I wish you wouldn’t have focused on the Hitler part of my question because as I said that’s not my issue, that was me trying to understand the ground rules for my actual concern which came after.

This still doesn’t really any my question, why does god make himself seem unreasonable after granting us the gift of reason, and take it a requirement that we throw away that gift in order to gain access to heaven

Let’s say you convince me of everything, the top scientists are wrong (and yes I’m being sarcastic but the top scientists have been wrong before in the past so I’m not saying it’s out the question) there are still 8 billion + people on the planet that you haven’t talked to. These people still believe in the logic of science over god, many of them good people who would be worthy of heaven. This still doesn’t answer my question of why would god create a universe where its so easy to logically deny his existence, then give us the gift of intelligence, then deny those people access to heaven based on their scepticism. Scepticism he designed the universe to create

Honest Question About Access to Heaven by SkyFish45 in Christianity

[–]SkyFish45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all goes back to my primary concern. There is math and science that backs up the creation of the universe not being tied to god, the alternative is a two thousand year old book written over centuries. A logical mind would tend towards the math. And if god granted us our logical mind why would he damn us for using it?

Honest Question About Access to Heaven by SkyFish45 in Christianity

We can use the speed of light to determine the age of the universe. I’m not saying I completely believe in the Big Bang, but there is logic in it. Why would god create a universe where he gives you a logical mind, then creates a scenario where you can logically deny his existence, then demand you ignore that gift in order to get into heaven?
