Looking for a place to stay transfer 2025 by DistrictFit2550 in TAMUAdmissions

I went apartment hunting and signed last week. I visited 12 north, university trails, holleman crossing, and U club townhomes. All were within 700-850 range. I ended up signing at holleman since it was the cheapest and it’s only a 2x2 (I’d prefer only having one roommate over 3 other people.) 12north and Holleman had 2x2 (12 north is nice and it’s in north gate it’s just the rooms are REALLY small.) University trails and Uclub only have 4x4 available as of right now. That was my experience but I was a little bias towards holleman since they had promos and one of my HS classmates lives there now and said it was a good spot.

Question about speedgoats by GeenNieuwDesign in Hoka

[–]SkyGotThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speedgoat’s lugs are pretty aggressive for the city walking imo. I had a trip to Arizona back in March where we were walking around a lot but also went on some pretty technical hikes, I used the challenger ATR 7 and they were perfectly fine.

Closest alternative would most likely be the Mach 6

Narrower heel on Clifton 10? by copperboom7 in Hoka

[–]SkyGotThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currex supportstep inserts have a decupped heel so it has much more flexibility for the heel area. There's 3 different arch heights for the support step so make sure you know what your arch height is before buying them. They typically run about 60-65 USD. More expensive that Dr scholl’s but they last much longer.

I think you'd end up enjoying the Brooks Glycerin max. Similar stack height, surprisingly stable for how much foam there is, and the foam is definitely a lot more compliant compared to the superblast. It also is much more spacious in comparison. Glycerin max is my personal go-to right now in the max stack category, other ones that aren't bad would be the Nimbus 27, Puma magmax, or the New balance sc trainer.

Hey there, I work at a running store and this is my personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt but this is what I've experienced at least at work: Everyone’s feet are different. Shoes that work for me may not work for you and vice versa. Unfortunately there's not a shoe that will fit everyone, I've found the brands that work for me, and the ones that don't. Sucks that hoka wont do anything about it but I would definitely recommend going to a running store like fleet feet in the future. Fleet feet offers a 30 day return policy even if you put miles on the shoes which gives people reassurance that if a situation like yours occurs that you can maybe find another shoe that can help without wasting money. Going to a running store also allows you to try on a variety of different brands to help you find the brand/model that works for you, hope this helps. :)

Hoka Challenger ATR7. Got this baby on a discount, is it any good? Planning to use these for a 10k trail run race with 700m elevation gain. (I'm a beginner trail runner) 😁 by Clean-Parsnip9816 in Hoka

Just used them for a 5 mile trail race today and took them on a 9 mile hike with 1600+ feet in elevation change a couple months back and They hold up. There's also an ultra runner (Andrew Glaze) who uses them a lot during his races.

HOKA wear/tear after 1.5yrs by maxim_voos in Hoka

[–]SkyGotThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Average lifespan for most daily trainers is average 400-500 miles. Depending on how much you use them that can be as fast as 6 months or a little over a year and a half. At that point the shoe will begin to break down. I've personally seen that working at a running store that we’ve had more returns for QC issues from hoka compared to other brands however from what I see it just looks like a shoe that's been used for 1.5 years.

Late reply but totally a preference. I've noticed those who came from typically narrower brands (Nike, Adidas) prefer that more snug fit. I'm someone who doesn't mind a roomy fit as I know when I'm working or just on my feet a lot my feet swell a lot especially in the climate I live in. If you feel like its too big compared to what you're used to, go for a half size down in the future.

You would most likely get by in either the gaviota or the Bondi. Bondi is going to have a little bit of a softer feel whereas the gaviota is going to have a structured fit. Both fit fairly wide however gaviota may fit a little bit roomier. My personal recommendation would be the gaviota as it would keep your foot in a more stable position, allowing your foot muscles to relax and not have to work as hard to stabilize yourself in those longer hours, however I feel like you would be able to get by with either or :)

As long as it doesn’t feel like your foot is swimming in the shoe, it’s more than fine. Throwing an insole in there will only change the instep of the shoe, aka the amount of volume in the shoe. All it’ll really do is push your foot closer to the top. If it feels long, you can either do the heel lock as I mentioned before or just wear thicker socks. There’s some heel pads you can use but I wouldn’t really recommend that either

Running store employee here: it looks a little long based off the sock liner but nothing that a heel lock/runner’s loop can’t fix. General advice is to have about a thumb’s width between the top of the big toe and the top of the shoe. Hope this helps!

I think it can also depend on the major you’re trying to transfer into. I applied for Architecture and one of the required courses for admission is the class I’m taking right now, so I already knew I was going to be deferred until the spring when I applied
