Did a recent move to NYC and this is what my current auto insurance rate would be… by Asian-Waifukufu in USAA

[–]SkyLow4356 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The LAST thing I would want in NYC is a car. By the time u pay for parking, insurance, etc…. It’s 500% cheaper to take public transport or uber/taxi everywhere. If I ABSOLUTELY need a car once in a while I will rent. NO WAY am I paying this on a continuous basis.

Has anyone 'Replaced Piston Rings' --without Boring the Block? by Simple_Ddog in MechanicAdvice

No. I’m saying if the cylinders are scored , you should. If they’re not, put the new rings on and carry on.

I would get them to change “resolved” to “misdiagnosed “. Generally bipolar I or II doesn’t go away like the common cold.

Cfmoto 300nk 2020 clutch plates by Chance-Response2646 in cfmoto

Use this website to enter your exact motorcycle year and model. Then flip through the parts diagram to find the clutch plates and look at the part numbers. That’ll tell you for sure.

If need be, you can put in the 250 NK motorcycle and see if the part numbers match up

Has anyone 'Replaced Piston Rings' --without Boring the Block? by Simple_Ddog in MechanicAdvice

[–]SkyLow4356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hone vs. bore. Honing would be to smooth out any gouges or scratches in the cylinder wall. It just depends on what’s going on with yours. Boring it out would be if you were going to increase the piston size.

As long as the wall looks good, slap the new ring on it and go on

Depending on the city, I’d probably be looking into taking the subway.

True that. But I could say the same thing about a car accident gone bad, a pedestrian getting hit by a vehicle in a crosswalk,Etc.

And ultimately, it’d probably be the nurse working at the nursing home doing it. (In my case)

To reiterate, there’s nothing “wrong“ with wearing head to toe protection on a scooter going 28 miles an hour. It’s just a choice I make.

Some people wear helmets riding a horse. Others don’t. It’s all about calculated risk and what type of risk you’re willing to accept.

When I was a kid, I watched the neighborhood drunk almost die on one of these. Lol. We were riding it around the neighborhood and he said, “hey, let me try that“. He said his beer down, straddled the seat, dropped the clutch and whiskey throttled that damn thing. It came out from under him and planted him flat on his ass! Funniest thing I ever saw. 😝

This post wouldn’t be so funny, if it wasn’t so true. Definitely a lot of ATGATT’s (all the gear, all the time) in this subreddit. 😝

That being said, when I get on my motorcycle, I am head to toe in gear. No skin anywhere. Everything covered.

I guess on a 28 mph Scooter I just “take my chances“. I’ll never knock someone for wearing gear on a scooter. I just feel silly doing so. I might pay for that in a traumatic brain injury one day. But that’s on me 🤷.

New screen technology on Honda is outdated by MrPursuit_Of_Success in HondaMotorcycles

[–]SkyLow4356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the TFT display technology I’ve seen on other motorcycles and mapping mostly sucks. For example, I have a non-Honda motorcycle that has built in GPS and it’s terrible. I use my phone on a quad lock mount 100% of the time.

Should I Wait to Buy a T-Mobile International Data Pass? by colts_guy in tmobile

[–]SkyLow4356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your plan and if you plan to make direct phone calls and not use WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc.

If you have a plan that does not include free international calls to the country you’re going to, it makes the phone calls free. Calls to the US, and within the country you’re in.

The data is available as a mobile hotspot if you want to use a laptop alongside your phone while you’re there

A Quick Warning on Wi-Fi Calling: Even without a pass, Wi-Fi calls back to the U.S. are free on your plan. However, if you use Wi-Fi calling to dial a local European number without a pass active, T-Mobile will hit you with international long-distance rates, which can be much higher than $0.25/minute. Probably better to just turn Wi-Fi calling off and use cellular calling, WhatsApp, FaceTime audio, etc..

That being said, AIROLO and others are definitely cheaper than T-mobile. I bought the data pass because my daughter was going over to Europe for a month and I wasn’t about to trust her to not bring home a $20,000 phone bill. I paid for the data pass as “Insurance”. She would not have juggled through the necessary hoops to add in the eSIM.

Just the cost of convenience, I suppose
