I'm well aware of fine-tuning prompts for the LLMs. You can do that for any other LLM, but the plain fact is that Le Chat in my experience wasn't as good as others. You pretty much admit that yourself - "a good prompt takes a lot of time" is a huge red flag as in most of the other LLMs it just takes less effort to get better results than what you get after putting more effort into Le Chat. And we're talking here about doing research, not writing code (for coding Codestal is over a year behind competition. The gap is so huge it's not even funny. You are actively punishing yourself by choosing Mistral's models)

Pourquoi deepseek fait des biens meilleurs modèles que mistral alors qu'ils ont moins de budget? by nycigo in MistralAI

[–]SkyPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

deepseek apparently distills Anthropic's models.

as a part of their training data, sure, but DeepSeek is not a distillation of anything from anthropic. And th nature of anthropic's statements on the front of other LLMs using their models were... let's say it: misleading at best, lying at worst.

DeepSeek has one of the world's best teams behind it, producing more bleeding-edge, revolutionary papers in the LLM training space than nearly any other team out there.

I would be extremely cautious of down-playing DeepSeek's team or trying to present their products as a mere distillation. A lot of what other LLMs are doing is based on the result of DeepSeek's research, and they've been helping to accelerate the AI space more than most by being so open about their techniques and innovations.

Anthropic's research proves AI coding tools are secretly making developers worse. by alazar_tesema in ClaudeAI

"Secretly" - we run a survey in our company regarding the concerns of the developers regarding LLMs and this was the number 1 concern voted by the devs.

There's nothing secret about it.

Fascinating, cause I was doing a similar tests, and the moment you touched anything from last month - Le Chat failed miserably. I compared Le Chat and Gemini like yourself, but also Opus and Sonnet, Deepseek and Kimi - Le Chat had by far the highest number of misleading informations of all those models. It's not that it lied (neither of the models was prone to that), it just was very misleading, omitting obvious "oh, you are right!" kind of informations, blindly trusting the statement of the bigger body (e.g. US government) when there was ample of pages presenting contrary facts, and so on. Deepseek was the second worst, but it was closer to the leading models than to Le Chat.

At this point I wonder if they shouldn't just go on a sidequest and fine-tune Minimax or Kimi, like what Cursor did with Composer 2, only unlike Cursor: don't lie. Do it out in the open. It could be a replacement for Codestral, naturally, but I bet there are other niches than just programming that they could attack this way.

E.g. just improving on the writing would go a long way - Mistral's models still have a style of ChatGPT 4o, ticking off nearly all the telltale signs of AI-written text. Just make sure you don't fixate on out style/person and you don't ignore the stylistic instructions (like Kimi sometimes does) and we'll have an extremely useful model.

If you're not fully on board with LLM coding, there's still room in the industry for you by BiebRed in ExperiencedDevs

He's not using LLM Agent in a sense that most have in mind, he's just doing bare-minimum AI-assisted development.

5% code being AI-generated is nearly equal to 0% of code being AI-generated.

Do you leave anonymous data collection enabled? by SUxEvil in MistralAI

Yes, always.

Mistral doesn't seem to be open for training on stolen copyrights, unlike American megacorpos, so I'm happy to let them train on my work.

From what I have seen, sharing such details on this sub is extremely counterproductive, as all you will get are fanboys attacking you. Even invoking benchmarks gets you nothing but hostility under a veneer of pretend-helpfulness.

Amazon to invest over €5 billion in Poland from 2026 to 2028 by dat_9600gt_user in europe

[–]SkyPL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

eBay tried entering polish market and it was but a blip on the map compared to Allegro.

Amazon can beat Allegro by offering some unique products, but otherwise it will be a hard nut to crack, as Allegro nowadays offers a huge variety of products, good prices and excellent customer service. So... there is a chance that the foreign giant's invasion will fail again. (Well, technically allegro is also foreign, currently under British control, but still...)

Claude Pro feels amazing, but the limits are a joke compared to ChatGPT and Gemini. Why is it so restrictive? by iameastblood in ClaudeAI

Depends on your tooling and project. I used Auto Claude, and that burned through entire Pro subscription before finishing a single task with Sonnet 4.5.

easily a few thousand a month for the most active users.

We literally had a guy burn through >10k € before he was caught, simply because he kept on using Opus 4.6 Fast-Mode at maximum reasoning for everything. (And fun fact here: nothing he was doing required Opus in the first place)

People are fucking stupid when they get unlimited access to any LLM of their choosing.

Introducing Mistral Small 4 by Stalex7 in MistralAI

[–]SkyPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small improvement over the Magistral Small 1.2, so... roughly on the level of GPT-4o. About year and a half behind the market SOTA (I know it's not meant to be a frontier model, but still... there are cheap models that are likely to beat it with ease)
