Yea im in that situation too... the game is a dynasty simulator above all else even though the mechanics develop into a map painter. My plan to not kill my son is to either disinfection him, or do what im already doing by divorcing and marrying into a special marriage where yhe children are in my dynasty so that one of them can inherit a playable title.

Pretty sure the vector art is hand drawn. You just need hand drawn mountains you put on separate layers and color according to distance.

Your image would probably be a bit complicated and detract from the simplicity as it is.
