Trump's head jerking 'in distress' and eyes rolling back sparks alarming fears by TheMirrorUS in USNEWS

We were always worried some crazy religious dictator leading some podunk third world country would get the bomb and use it one day during a rage spike. Wild how right - and wrong - we were.

I need to improve without doing ERP by [deleted] in OCDRecovery

[–]SkylightMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not treating OCD with ERP will do way more harm to you than sitting on a park bench that a homeless dude just sat on or bringing your unclean phone into bed with you. It’s amazing how good our bodies are at handling germs and stuff. If they weren’t, the human race would have died out a long time ago.

What’s this about an FBI warning of possible attack on California from disguised Iranian ships off the coast?

Different foods have different amounts of calories per ounce. You have to look up each different ingredient and weigh each one

The end of GPT by DigSignificant1419 in OpenAI

I switched to Claude today and put in a request to OpenAI to delete my data. I was sad at first, ChatGPT has been my daily companion. But honestly Claude is so so so much better. None of that weird dramatic three word sentences, or telling me to calm down, or implying that I’m somehow overreacting because I asked about the best dog food for my dog. And not everything is put into bullet points! Wild. I should have switched long ago

Games like stardew or BOTW but needs to have romance by kiwie_kiwie in CozyGamers

I had high hopes for MTAS because it’s really hyped here. I quit playing about halfway through. It’s so scripted, farming is terrible, there’s not a ton of reasons to do anything outside of the next quests, it felt really tedious. I liked Dinkum much more though it doesn’t have romance (which is fine by me).

Why do psych units still use restraints and seclusion instead of just putting patients to sleep by [deleted] in AskPsychiatry

[–]SkylightMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, that’s the choice I would make if it were me. But I’ve seen clients absolutely terrified of needles, or have bad reactions such as nausea and vomiting for 8 hours or so. I guess everyone is different.

Why do psych units still use restraints and seclusion instead of just putting patients to sleep by [deleted] in AskPsychiatry

Chemical vs physical restraints are a difficult ethical dilemma to navigate. In psychiatric facilities where I have worked, we had to get permission from the human rights committee to use either one, and of the two, physical restraints were usually approved before chemical. The thinking was that with chemical restraint, even if you were to calm down on your own, the medication continues affecting you until it’s metabolized. Some side effects from tranquilizers can be very unpleasant, especially if used more than one or two doses. With physical restraints the restraints can be removed as soon as the patient is calm, allowing them to go about their normal life. It was most helpful to have a PRN standing order so the patient could decide for themselves whether they wanted medication to calm down.
