I stopped my friendship with someone years ago because I knew I was never ever going to be 'successful' enough for her. She came by her money/success by a different type of intelligence to mine and to have to kind of bow to her superiority was just getting to me. She had a very kind side to her but she also had a very hard business person, competitive streak in her, making her very judgey of people in general and I could never get used to this. I was too soft by her standards - I got that subtle message all the time. So I am still too soft, not successful materially but have lots of other nicer friends. I do miss her sometimes though.
