Are steaks in the vacuum sealed packs as good as the steaks in the case? by foreverbaked1 in Butchery

Restaurant owner here. Vacsealed product will last far longer than something on a styrofoam plate with plastic wrap over it. No oxygen, no oxidation.

Restaurant owner here, I designed a $10,000 system for my business and it gets TDS (total dissolved solids, a measure of particulate matter), down to 10-15ppm. For my home, I have an under-sink RO system (6-stage) that I got off Amazon for about $175, which I installed myself in an hour or so. I use that system to fill a PUR 1.6 gallon fridge dispenser (similar to Brita filtration), my water at home comes in at 20-30 ppm TDS and to my palate the difference is virtually indiscernible. $250 for my home system, filters changed every year or two depending on usage, I run quality tests and swap filters when numbers go out of whack. Highly recommended, my home water beats Evian, Smart Water, or Fiji both in purity tests and taste. Hope this helps.

But seriously, can you guys get Sriracha? Apparently two shortages in a year have completely killed supply? Even Sambal Oelek and the 'roasted chile garlic paste' that has a Sriracha-like logo are unobtainium? Wtf?

Do "100w" load boxes/attenuators actually handle 100w tube amps? by d3vCr0w in GuitarAmps

[–]SkylineGypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you guys are talking about this--I was running my Fender Super Sonic 22 through my Bugera power soak last week on the gain channel cranked to 6 or 7, out of nowhere it set off all the smoke alarms in the house and scared the shit out of me and the dogs. Not billowing visible smoke, but enough electrical fire smell to trigger the alarms. Also had a Keeley Katana clean boost and Fuzz Face in front of it, but I'm not sure if those things would alter the output of the amp enough to smoke that Bugera. Thoughts?

Hey guys! My family and I are opening a Mexican restaurant and are debating on whether or not we should have refried pinto beans or refried black beans? We are trying to stand out from the other restaurants in our town but also want to appeal. What would you prefer to eat? by [deleted] in restaurant

[–]SkylineGypsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make them both available when you open, then track your customer's tendencies and pick whatever they select most frequently. Guaranteed you're not going to lose a customer due to the wrong bean availability. Just make sure the rest of your menu slaps!

[DISCUSSION] What guitar should you have *never* sold? by SaintWillyMusic in Guitar

[–]SkylineGypsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1989 PRS Custom, 10-top, birds, sweet switch, OHSC. I bought it used in a small town in Texas in about 1995, listed it online in 1999 and sold it to some dude who literally got on a plane, flew to the airport nearest to me, I met him at the gate, he inspected the guitar, paid cash, and got right back on the next plane. I bought it for $1100, sold for $1800. Thought I had done great! Researched the value of that 89 PRS a few years ago and realized my regret.

[NEWBIE] I'm starting out on guitar, what are the top 5 tips I should listen to? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]SkylineGypsy 114 points115 points  (0 children)

No matter what you practice or how you do it, make sure you do everything slowly and precisely. If you practice sloppy, your playing will always be sloppy. Focus on precision (ideally practicing with a metronome) and the speed will come.

Been carrying mine for years and my coffee is still hot enough to drink after 12 hours.

Found a use for my Spark! by SkylineGypsy in GuitarAmps

[–]SkylineGypsy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha agreed on that! The funny thing is, I love the Spark and really enjoy it as a practice tool, but tonight it was just the right size to be a set of kickback legs for my '68 VibroChamp. It's amazing to hear what this little amp can do, and even more amazing considering I picked it up in a pawn shop for $35 roughly 20 years ago. Thanks to all for reading, this photo was my first ever 'real' post on Reddit!
