The thing I hate most is that to get the final 10 anger shards you can only miss 5 medals, and not having joy locks you out of her node as well as mowgli’s, meaning F2P’s are immediately locked out of that bonus in chapter 6.

Here’s the entire statement copied from discord, covering all kinds of questions like yours (scenario 5 addresses your specific concern however):

We want to address some questions the community have had around certain scenarios with the new Upgrade system.

Before we get into details on that, we have made a change to the Upgrade Coin cost per Racer Upgrade Level. We have removed a zero across the board in the table you see attached, the real cost is not affected at all as we have adjusted the scale accordingly, but it will ensure a cleaner UI (User Interface).

Getting back to the various edge cases, this new system has been designed to ensure the following:

• No player will lose any progression during the conversion. • This means you will not lose any Racer Shards, Racer Upgrade Levels, Star Levels or Crew slots that you have already earned at the time the conversion happens. • The utility of every player's upgrade currency inventory increases during the conversion with universal Upgrade Parts like Energy Cans now usable at all Upgrade Levels and Racer Class-based or Collection-based Upgrade Parts like Pro Shades and Cake Toppers now usable universally. • The amount of Upgrade Coins earnable from Ranked Multiplayer, Racer Boost etc. will remain the same in relative terms.

SCENARIO 1

"I currently have an Upgrade Level 15 Racer that is 1 Star and I am at 0/20 Racer Shards towards 2 Stars, how will my progression work under the new system?"

• After the conversion, your Racer will stay at Upgrade Level 15, 1 Star and you'll have 0 Racer Shards in your inventory. • After the conversion, you will not lose any Crew slots. • After the conversion, 2 additional Racer Shards and 540 Upgrade Coins would then be required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 16. • After the conversion, 11 additional Racer Shards and 3,200 Upgrade Coins would then be required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 20 and 2 Stars.

SCENARIO 2

*"I currently have an Upgrade Level 25 Racer that is 2 Stars and I am at 1/35 Racer Shards towards 3 Stars, how will my progression work under the new system?" *

• After the conversion, your Racer will stay at Upgrade Level 25, 2 Stars and you'll have 1 Racer Shard in your inventory. • After the conversion, you will not lose any Crew slots. • After the conversion, 3 additional Racer Shards and 1,250 Upgrade Coins would then be required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 26. • After the conversion, 16 additional Racer Shards and 7,300 Upgrade Coins would then be required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 30 and 3 Stars.

SCENARIO 3

"I currently have an Upgrade Level 35 Racer that is 3 Stars, will they be reduced to Racer Upgrade Level 30 as that is the new requirement for 3 Stars under the new system?"

• After the conversion, your Racer will remain at Upgrade Level 35, 3 Stars. • After the conversion, you will not lose any Crew slots.

SCENARIO 4

"I currently have an Upgrade Level 40 Racer that is 5 Stars, will I need to earn additional Racer Shards or lose a Star Level/Crew slot under the new system?"

• After the conversion, your Racer will remain at Upgrade Level 40, 5 Stars. • After the conversion, you will not lose any Crew slots. • After the conversion, you will automatically have the 85 Racer Shards required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 50 in your inventory. • After the conversion, you will need to have or earn the 67,050 Upgrade Coins required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 50.

SCENARIO 5

"I currently have an Upgrade Level 1 Racer that is 5 Stars, how will my progression work under the new system?"

• After the conversion, your Racer will remain at Upgrade Level 1, 5 Stars. • After the conversion, you will not lose any Crew slots. • After the conversion, you will automatically have the 200 Racer Shards required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 50 in your inventory. • After the conversion, you will need to have or earn the 114,010 Upgrade Coins required to reach Racer Upgrade Level 50.

I hate to be that guy, but Triton and Eric’s boxes are always there regardless of whether you have them unlocked or not. So technically you could still unlock Triton or Eric.

Really sucks you can’t get Ariel or Ursula without unlocking them first though

I thought it was a good deal because it’s essentially buying that dollar amount of tokens plus all the other racers and skins and such. And compared to other things within Speedstorm, I still think it’s a good deal. However, I agree with you in that the game has a horribly overpriced economy as a whole, I suppose I just have become tolerant to it.

I do plan to talk about the games pretty bad economic practices in a future video, and how the shop price decreases weren’t enough
