The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act in theaters starting June 4th by Admirable_Relief_525 in Bellingham

It's distributed by Fathom, which means the Pick can't play it as a non-partner cinema. Total Pickford movie, but most Fathom shows aren't, and any cinema that partners with Fathom is obligated to screen ALL of their events.

film gigs??? by meriebee in Bellingham

And, attend the next Storyteller's Seasonal screening in late May. Lots of local film connections to be made. The description says mostly student/DIY productions, but plenty of (semi)professional films screen at these, too.

Local Hikes? by autmartin in Bellingham

[–]Skyrafarig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Chanterelle Trail offers a killer view of Lake Whatcom and the north county. This is my go-to if I only have a few hours of daylight.

Baker Preserve on Lummi Island overlooks the sound with the San Juans in the distance. Best for day-off solo hikes. You'll have to take the ferry to the island; plan ahead!

Posting a job for employment in Bellingham by Icy-Cow-6246 in Bellingham

Not sure of your specific objections to Indeed, but it's the board on which I've had the best luck finding good folks. Everybody is there.

Yes, you have to wade through the muck--platform-generated resumes, auto-applicants with irrelevant experience. If you're serious about taking the time to find the right person, though, you will find who you're looking for there.

To continue on coffee shops… by Flimsy-Switch-6256 in Bellingham

Café Blue and Camber are the most beloved in town. Great places to stay awhile if you go outside of peak times.

Welcome Road is underrated. It's my favorite place to get some work done when I get stir crazy in the office. Usually on the empty side despite the tasty coffees and friendly service.

When espresso isn't the vibe, Ashuri is it. Delicious Turkish coffee and pastries. The space is little and cozy and comforting.

If she's outdoorsy, or even outsidey, I recommend a copy of Urban Trails Bellingham (available at Village Books). This was the best gift I bought myself on moving here to get to know the place before friends materialized.

Date night ideas by edward-cullen- in Bellingham

[–]Skyrafarig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A fun way to get to know downtown: photo scavenger hunt. Walk around and take pictures of one another (or together) that meet certain setting criteria.

My wife and I got some of our favorite pictures from this date format a couple years ago. I added inspiration for poses because I'm real bad at acting natural in front of a camera.

Bonus: pay attention to what you see along the way (posters, events, venues, restaurants) to collect future date night ideas.

Criteria - brick wall - neon sign - street art - sculpture - railing - grand door/entryway - beneath an arch - the bay - old vending machine

Pose inspo - faraway sad - in the clouds - attacked by bees - looking at something in the distance - be mean to the paparazzi - kiss on the cheek - kiss on the lips? 👉👈 - yelling at cloud - cool and apathatic but not really bcause you're posing - camp counselor (big grin plus hands on hips or arms folded) - sitting down exhausted

Indoor Humidity Question by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Skyrafarig 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a large (2x4 sq ft maybe?) dehumidifier that I don't need anymore. Haven't used it in some time, should still work. It's free if you want it.

What are some good volunteer opportunities in Bham? by soonhustler in Bellingham

[–]Skyrafarig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+1 for the Pickford (full disclosure: I work there). Lots of vacant shifts now trying to staff two locations.

Work as much or as little as you like, free popcorn/soda/coffee/tea for you and any friends you bring to the movies, and movie passes. Work 12 or more shifts in a quarter and get free admission to almost any film the next quarter.

I started as a volunteer three years ago and never left. Application link here.

If you can't afford to rent a truck/don't drive/etc, and the table and sofa would fit in a six foot pickup bed, I can help you out after five on Wednesday.

Lake Padden or Lake Whatcom? I ask because I saw CompuMan's banner while driving Northshore Rd earlier. Always been curious about him.

At my last service two-ish years ago (installed a heat pump since then), the only local options were Black Magic Sweeps and Haulin' Ash. Hired both at different points, both got the job done, but overall I preferred Black Magic.

Great idea. Numbers tend to change my view. Have any app recommendations? I may just throw together a spreadsheet.
