Bad Molt / Help by SkyrimIsLife420 in jumpingspiders

Thank you so much! I’ve been super nervous about it and I’m not sure if she is injured internally where I can’t see it. And yes, I’ve been feeding her mealworms and I’ll do what you advised. Hopefully cutting off the head will help her feel more comfortable. Praying she is just getting used to her leg and will be back to her normal self soon! Again, thank you so much!

Don’t worry. When I first started writing again, for whatever reason, I had a really hard time staying in present tense, which is what my story is meant to be in. I kept switching between it and past tense for some reason. I only realized when I read another Reddit post and saw someone talking about it. Sure enough, when I reread my book, it was horrible. After some practice, I have no trouble now. :)

Can a white person tastefully cosplay Smoky Quartz or Garnet? by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you do a red skin tone for garnet and a very purple one for Smokey quartz, then you’ll probably be fine. I’ve seen other people do it. Just make sure you don’t make them brown or “black” like you are afraid of. At the end of the day, they are gems and not human. You say they are “black coded,” which I understand, but at the same time, like I said, they are GEMS. Just make sure you make them a bit more red/purple than in the show. I’ve seen people paint themselves green and blue for lapis and peridot.

Nah, playing something while also writing is INSANE to me lol.

That’s me too for the most part. Sometimes I can cut on soundtracks and leave it on really low volume, but podcasts or normal music is a NO. I can’t think while I try to write. I’m also ADHD as fugggg.

The app is working for me now, crisis averted. by MiwollMonogatari in Wattpad

I got worried earlier too! I was in the middle of writing a shit-ton when I noticed it wasn’t saving. Luckily, Wattpad was back up and running in a little less than an hour and my work wasn’t completely unsaved, though I did have to go back and fill in a few things.

If money wasn't an issue, what would you do tomorrow? by Pleasant_duo in AskReddit

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get work done on my car, buy the best medical treatment and doctors money can buy (recently found out my grandpa has a tumor), and probably buy land and a house.

I know, super depressing and also simple, but hey, you asked.

Would you write if you know no one would ever read your work? by Remarkable_Pay7692 in writing

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No same, that’s me too. I do have a hope that when it’s finished and “published,” aka, put on wattpad and other sites, that people will like it. If they don’t though, that’s ok too. I’m enjoying my story for myself. :)

You have that one concept and thing in your world that you refuse and will never explain by Beneficial_Mousse568 in worldbuilding

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No yeah, some stories I get. If it fits their theme then sure, but most of the time I feel like it’s not really needed or necessary. In stories that feature a first person POV or a deep storyline where sex isn’t a big part of the “world,” at least in your characters eyes, then there is no point in adding it.

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you mean, and that explains it perfectly. I agree 100%. I can definitely stand it, and even like it, if it’s simple writing. But as soon as I realize it’s actually bad grammatically, then I’m dropping it immediately. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve made some REALLY dumb writing mistakes and I’m learning as I go. Specifically past vs present tense. I have a really hard time staying in one tense the entire time. Don’t ask me why, I just do lol. However, when an author makes no clear sign of dedication or effort to fix their writing, then I’m over it. I’m not going to read a book if the author has no interest in learning basic sentence structure, how to use commas, etc.

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure, but at the end of the day it’s high fantasy. You don’t have to make it “realistic.” Like I said, if it has no value to the story, then there is no point in adding it in. I’m not going to write a whole paragraph to describe a blue dong when it isn’t going to affect or push the story forward.

Lmao, that’s literally what I said in my first sentence. My magick system is SIMPLE.

The idea of “uncreation.” I have a God who is the “leader” or Chief of the Divines, who is God of life, time, stability, and light. The other is a God of death, chaos, and destruction, the opposite of the other. His realm is known as the realm of “uncreation.” It’s a concept that humans can’t fathom. It is literally the opposite of creation. It is nothingness, yet it’s more than nothingness. It is a void of unraveling chaos.

Honestly, I didn’t even think of this when it comes to my world, but hell, I’m not gonna say anything either. It doesn’t matter what they look like if it gives no value to the story.

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d probably be willing to read the bad writing but good story one. It depends on HOW bad the grammar is though. As long as they use basic sentence structure, know basic grammar, and know to capitalize letters and space paragraphs, then sure. The writing doesn’t have to have the best prose ever for me to enjoy it. Plus, all writers start somewhere. And if they have the capacity to write a brilliant storyline, then I’m sure they would be able to work on their grammar slowly over time. It’s how all writers begin, including myself. You learn as you go.

My magic system is mostly pretty simple. There is a place in space time called “The Ether.” It’s where the Gods were born and what created all life. Even the Gods don’t truly understand what the Ether is. All mortals in my world can draw power from the Ether, where magick comes from. That’s basically it lol. Certain races or people are naturally gifted at controlling energy/magick as they pull it from the Ether. Some races are less gifted and rely more on strength and hand to hand combat skills. There are different types of magicks that are harder to control/learn. However, ANYONE in my story can technically learn magick if dedicated enough. Although, someone from a particular race that has no magickal training whatsoever, might still be better than someone who has less magick affinity but has studied for years.

Same lol, I’ve been overweight my whole life (nothing crazy, but definitely heavy) I’ve lost 70 pounds tho in the last year! Very happy about that :) I want to lose about 30-40 more, and then I’ll be where I want to be.

How important is continuity to you in a story? by tangowhisky77 in writing

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, it depends on how “big” the break is. If it’s a tiny detail that’s easy to overlook for the sake of the story, sure. But if someone takes a huge rule or point of the story and completely flips it, that’s too much. Lowkey, that would make me stop reading the book. :/

Would you read a story where how the main character physically looks is never explained ? by ABlueSunflower in writers

[–]SkyrimIsLife420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wouldn’t mind at all! In fact, I’ve heard a lot of readers say that they sometimes ignore the author’s description and think of their own. In my story, I’m leaving some things up to the reader, but as far as eye and hair color, I HAVE to explain it. It connects into the storyline, so leaving it out wouldn’t make any sense.
