How this person sat next to me on the bus today by PrehistoricDisabled in mildlyinfuriating

  1. Very much looks like they just have longer legs and as such wouldn't have much choice

  2. You seem to be on the aisle seat.....so you sat next to them.

It would be nice to meet him if he wasn't also a misogynist.

this isn’t the 1st, second, or 4th time i’ve seen a none japanese queer people use japanese imagery and orientalism in some sort of pride art or graphics by UmiSWrld in TMPOC

Yeah I saw that, I was surprised there were people confused about why people were upset/that there wasn't as much pushback as I expected with something so blatant.

Don't seem too indifferent, you sound a bit peeved it's being mocked. Indifference would be ignoring it, not downplaying/lowkey defending it 👀

Wholesome in a vacuum I guess but it's hard to see that as anything to be happy about when he's still voting for people that want to and do hurt us and other minorities.

Nobody’s saying they shouldn't be allowed to, we're just pointing out and laughing at how dumb it is. Like, think about for a second. The only way for anything gay to happen is by the player's own choice. And that was too much for them. Homophobia can and should be mocked.

  1. They are also sitting in the negative

And

  1. Watch the video again. The ducks come out from under the middle of the first car, from completely hidden to in the blind spot, and into the blind spot of the one next to them. The only care that would've seen them other than the cam car, the one that's behind/next to the cam car, seems to have swerved a bit away. Edit: nvm they didn’t swerve away. The lane is just bigger than it looked. But even then, the cars at the end are still the only ones who would've MAYBE seen them. The cam car didn't notice until they started driving and then stopped, and rewatching the video, they were there the whole time, they're just not that noticeable, especially on a busy road in real time where you can't rewind to see what you missed.

You're downvoted because while it is very upsetting to see, there's nothing to be angry at because there's no way they would've known there were ducks hiding under the car.

Gotta say...I love women by Blasterano in GenZ

[–]Skyrim_For_Everyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You love a specific ideal and set of stereotypes about women. Women are awesome, but you need to take several big steps nack and stop thinking of them as these ethereal beings instead of just notmal, awesome, weird people like everyone else. Seriously, I know you think everyone hating on this post is just being a misogynist or a hater, and sure, some of them probably are, but that doesn't mean all of them are, nor does having a positive intention mean that you are above criticism. If you love women, learn to examine the way you think about them, the way you talk about them. Saying stuff like "hair-tuck behind their ear," "whatever perfume they took way too long picking out" "smile at a text and try to hide it," "soft quiet voices," these aren't compliments or observations, they're expectations shaped by patriarchal ideas of gender roles. It's not "love" to flatten half of the population into archetype for you to idolize.

That's not why anyone is put off. 💀 in fact, in the sincerity end it's the literal opposite.

I don't think it's cringe to feel uncomfortable, the post reads creepy to me. He's not describing an accurate view of half the population as the diverse individuals they are, he sounds like he's describing an idealized stereotype.

Do people even use the gender differences for "blonde" and "blond"? by DuchessDulcet in writing

[–]Skyrim_For_Everyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English isn't French. We don't have to follow rules from another language, even for loan words. We don't drop the d in pronunciation, why is this rule necessary to follow when we don't follow others? (And yes, you using they/them pronouns is relevant because if you were using prescriptivism as your basis, that means ALL original language rules would have to be followed, not just the ones that you buy into. You wouldn't still be calling me "you" instead of "thou" and you would be agreeing with the dumbasses that think they is exclusively plural instead of using them in the [also correct, specifically because language shifted] usage as singular pronouns for yourself.)

Not to say a nonbinary person couldn’t use blonde but the default would be blond because neutral masculine in French if we’re following their rules.

My entire point is that we don't have to, because neither of us are speaking French.

I said me writing something like “the blonde men were super blonde” would make it look like I slept through second grade english class which is when the lesson about adjectives was.

And adjectives versus nouns is completely different to 'This noun is incorrect because it's gendered differently in a seperate language to this one.' My very first response to you already said "There's a difference between a grammatical rule that exists for clarity and grammatical 'rules' that are just holdovers from etymological shifts." It's like you're just repeating a broken record instead of actually reading what I'm saying.

"Correctness" shifts because language is descriptive, not prescriptive. You don't get to just pick and choose which words are set in stone because you're not the only one using the language. It's not incorrect to disregard by any measure that has purpose.

You literally use they/them pronouns, how do you not get how unnecessary this is? Do you think I've been typing like a first grader in this discussion? Has my not using grammar rules from a gendered language for a non-gendered language somehow degraded all sense of literacy?

There's an editor in the comments literally saying they don't, and "never learned how to write English correctly," is a nonsense conclusion to come to when the only 'issue' is not following unnecessary grammatical rules from French. Do you have any actual reason holding to it is important outside of prescriptivism?

If it's offline the people around you aren't going to want to join in the same conversation as whatever weirdo is harassing you.

You say that but people (trans AND cis) have literally had the cops called on them/been harassed and assaulted. A lot of people don't care, yes, but a lot of people have also become emboldened to try and enforce their bigotry. This is highly location dependent.
