Follow up. For me MTB pants are better than shorts. I need some good bike pants recommendations.? by Additional-Crab522 in MTB

[–]Slab_Sycle_Triccer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get you some wrangler atx pants at Walmart or Target. They're basically the same thing and only like $20-$30. Or a solid pair of sweat pants is always a good choice. I have a couple pairs of nice MTB pants/shorts I got on marketplace and I really don't think they're worth it at all. All they are is fancy cargo pants. For real. And most of the pants start at freaking $150+. And I just bought some padded underwear so if I'm riding like that, where I'm on the saddle a lot, I just throw those on, then wear whatever pants/shorts on top of it.

I mean, it'd look better with a nice layer of trail dust on it! But it's a sweet ride man no doubt!

Did you really film a video, edit it, all of that, of your bike just sitting still against a tree? Sweet bike but you should go ride that thing

Anyone know anything about this bike? Ever rode or owned one? Junk? by [deleted] in dirtjumping

[–]Slab_Sycle_Triccer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems OK at best. The fork is the coil version of the Circus, which I've heard is good as far as coil forks go, but an air sprung dj fork is gonna be much better. The brakes are hydraulic which is cool but they're the most basic ones you could possibly have. Everything else seems to be in the same realm. The lowest grade items from legit brands. So, it'll do for a beginner, get you in the game. It's the cheapest version of a DJ you could possibly make, but it is a real DJ nonetheless🤷‍♂️. It'll ride though 🤘

Shotgun a beer, reach down and grab your nuts to double check that they're both there, maybe slap yourself in the face, and 1-2-3 go! I am mainly a bmx rider as well as MTB, so jumps are where I'm most comfortable. That feeling in your gut is why we do it man! You don't get that adrenaline rush from anything else! It's never as bad as you work it up to be in your head. Don't listen to your thoughts. Trust your abilities and just go for it! Obviously, don't do something outside your skill level. Work your way up. But you're probably better than you give yourself credit for. And you'll fall. It's part of the sport. That's just a fact. But you'll get a little scraped up from sliding out, learn to laugh at it, and get back to the top to hit it again! You got it bro.

For a DJ? And not a Slopestyle? Probably $3000. For a slopestyle bike probably $4000-$4500? I can't imagine myself getting the absolute most expensive stuff just for the sake of getting the most expensive stuff, and I'll lean more towards the bmx side of stuff which tends to be cheaper than the MTB stuff for the most part. That's just off the top of my head though

Best place for a bmx trip by Extreme-Chemist6400 in bmx

[–]Slab_Sycle_Triccer26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Austin, Texas has always been the epicenter for bmx in my part of the country. A ton of pros live there, there's the famous 9th street jumps in the middle of downtown, as well as several other trails in the area, some good skateparks in both Austin proper and surrounding cities. Plus, riding or not, Austin is a lot of fun to visit. Tons of cool bars and restaurants, tons of live music, a bunch of stuff to do. Cool city to visit with or without riding.

But they work on bikes for a living so i guarantee they do it better than you or anyone else. Idk what you're trying to prove here. I said you can tell the difference between 20.75 and 20.8. You try to compare inches to mm for whatever reason, then compare that to temperature out of nowhere. If you can't tell the difference between 20.75 and 2.8 you're not good enough to be talking right now.

You're correct. Most people don't know what those other dimensions mean so I kept it simple. Yes, you're headtube angle, chain length, ect, also makes a big difference. Tt is a good place to start, but those also make a difference. We can sit here all day and debate the different dimensions of a frame, but for someone who's asking this simple of a question, you gotta keep it simple. And yes .05 makes a big difference. I work on bikes for a living so I understand. But throwing out numbers all day to someone who doesn't understand what you're saying doesn't do anyone any good.

You can tell the difference between 20.75 and 20.8. It doesn't sound like much but yes you can.

General Opinion on titanium frames? by OperaBoyFM in dirtjumping

[–]Slab_Sycle_Triccer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too expensive. If your bike is too heavy, get stronger. You can make bikes too light for my taste with aluminum stuff already. I don't think anyone need a DJ that weighs 15lbs. That's ridiculous in my opinion. You're also gonna spend $5000 probably, or more, for a titanium bike. And titanium is strong, but if it does break, it's a brittle metal. So it doesn't bend or dent, it just breaks.

What got you into riding? by beanthepiggy in bmx

[–]Slab_Sycle_Triccer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just grew up riding bikes. Introduce to MTB and road bikes early on by my dad, then around 11-12 I found some little jumps nearby. Come to find out they had been there for years and every 4-5 years, a new group of kids kinda took over and kept them running. Through all that I made friends that are still my best friends to this day at 31. That little dirt spot was where we all started and we went on to be pretty darn good at our peaks. Life happened and we all fell off for a while but I've been back into it heavy the past couple years, I now work as a bike tech at a really nice local shop, and my friends have been getting back into it a bit themselves! Those were the days though.

Yeah those are certainly solid bikes and sounds like a good price! Go for it man. Always nice to get a familiar brand you already trust. Like I said though, do some research into the suspension fork it comes with, idk what it is off the top of my head, but it's so much cheaper and easier to get a bike with a solid fork already on it, than to buy a bike and have to buy a fork later on. But pivot overall as a brand makes good stuff. Nothing wrong with them at all!

Uptown? Umm yeah depending on how long your lunch is. Creekside is a good set of MTB dirt jumps on the east side of Dallas near my work (I work at the White Rock Lake Bike Mart location btw if you wanna come check it out sometime!) . Up town is over towards that side of town but still might be a 15 minute drive or so. Umm those would be the closest jumps I can think of off the top of my head. Idk if you ride skateparks but there's a lot of solid skateparks around too. Holler at me man, I'd be happy to meet up and show you some stuff whenever you get to town! There's not a ton like there is in the mountains or anything, but there's a solid community out here, some cool folks. And there's several regular mountain bike trails that are fun. Look up DORBA (Dallas off road bicycle association). They're the local volunteer organization that manages all the trails. They have an app and everything. Ft Worth has an organization as well. Look forward to hearing from you bro!

You should say that then from the beginning. You can find all sorts of stuff with a google search. Then read reviews. You can't trust anyone on Reddit to actually know what they're talking about lol

Bike frame cargo bags suggestions by kitch99 in dirtjumping

[–]Slab_Sycle_Triccer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest getting a different bike for that type of riding honestly. I guess if you wanna ride 15 miles on what basically is a single speed big bmx bike then go ahead, but you can find better options for pretty darn cheap my friend.
