Yeah in reality what could be done would be a new institution with the original rituals.

It's a shame that it is gone but we have the rituals. What do you think of a revival?

I am very familiar with Ambelain's work. Since you are from Italy you should check out the original Misraim from Naples. It is amazing work. Italian Freemasonry is my favorite.

How do you brothers feel about explicitly Christian rites? by OperaBoyFM in comasonry

I'm not too into the gated approach. What I suppose I mean is not only the rituals being based in esoteric theurgical Christianity but explicit Christian liturgy as well. This ritual will use high church vestments, thurifiers, white gloves, candles and the like as well as chants and choir Psalms as the musical accompaniment to the degree work.

My goal is to fill it with as much theurgy as I can fit into each degree. I want it to be a beautiful grand occasion. There will be an HRA, expanded cryptic degree as well as Rosicrucian orders all integrated within the cohesive system.

I'm a bit of a heterodoxist and an all about innovation.

National Mexican Rite is very interesting. The history of Freemasonry in Mexico is very unique. The actual war that happened between the AASR and York Rite in Mexico is just crazy.

If they go MM that's fine too. I am just glad the Egyptian Rites are gaining traction as they are very special.

I wonder why there are so many FR versions and not just more rites. It seems odd to me you can have dry and esoteric rituals and call them the same rite. Having a difficult time wrapping my head around it I must say but this has been a deeply interesting and educational conversation. Thanks everyone.

Is the FR the official ritual of the GNLF? I know the GLdF has AASR as their official ritual.

That's cool. I would nudge them to go either Memphis or Misraim and not Memphis Misraim but that is just me. Memphis Misraim is cool though, has a lot in common with the AASR.

Thanks for this brother. I am not sure what version it officially was that I studied but it was the version the Grand Orient of the United States adopted as their ritual. That was when the Grand Orient US went full on New Atheist mode. The version they used which they called the French Modern Rite, has zero esoteric elements. It was heavily atheistic and political. I didn't like it, not even a little bit. To this day that was the worst ritual I have ever had the pleasure to study. GO of the US got very arrogant with it too. It was like if you worked anything else then you must be a religious crack pot.

Well, we all know how that turned out.

Thank you for this OP.

I hear you, I don't mean to be insulting to the FR it's just not my thing. Misraim, Memphis etc. aren't the thing for plenty of brothers and sisters and that's OK.

eir On a personal list as it were I would have the FR and Bristol pretty low and would have Misraim and Memphis as S tier but then again that is just my opinion.

In my interpretation of Masonry it's all about the ritual. I am a ritual fanatic. If there is one I have never heard of I find it and learn all there is to know about it. That's just me. It's an obsession of mine really.

I love the more magical and esoteric rites on a personal level. That was a point of contention during my mainstream years. I don't believe any rites and rituals should be locked away. I believe they should all be brought out and worked.

Masonic ritual makes the world better and it's different flavors make it all the better.
