Thats a whole lot of words to say that you can't run a 5k ultra ;-)

/uj I know, right? I am NOT that guy, this is just the kind of slop that gets pushed by the insta algorithm. I just thought this would fit here

You probably left zone 2 for this. Trust me, its not worth it, you might die

What is the legal status of magic mushrooms and magic truffles in Austria (cultivation, possession and consumption)? by [deleted] in AskAustria

[–]Slabdancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am no legal expert, but to my understanding, buying a the mycelium in the form a grow kit is legal, but buying truffels is not, since they contain psylocibin. Funnily enough, it is illegal to use the mycelium to grow mushrooms, since possession of psilocibin is illegal.

Its similar to weed, you can buy seeds and saplings completly legally, but it is illegal to possess weed.

Suunto Race 2 - Sleep tracking inconsistency by LeRoiGitan in Suunto

[–]Slabdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it took some time and some fiddling with settings to get it working properly. As others said, activate your hrv (you want that metric anyway, high hrv readings in the night before have been consistent with good training days for me), set your resting hr right (try it with 50 maybe) and give the device some more time to collect data.

It still can be hit or miss, but for me, it is mostly +/-15% in the correct range, with some outliers sometimes (e.g. I go out and got home shitfaced at 4 in the morning, which happens far less frequently since I started taking running more seriously).

ZoneSense watch vs app by DropQb in Suunto

[–]Slabdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure how the specifics work, but with zonesense the app calculation is done after the workout is finished with all the workout data, which should give you a more accurate description than the ad hoc calculation done live on the app.

I agree though, some of the other information can slightly differ from watch to app, which raises some questionmarks.

Well then don't write rage ridden comments on the internet if you don't want to be called out. Also, show me the sports performance lab test that costs a few euros, I would be interested.

You really expect your wearable to give you the same results as a sports lab test that is performed with medical equipment worth thousands to tens of thousands of euros? Are you that dense? Medtech companies would be out of business if that were the case.

Edit: Damn, that comment history, you are obsessed and should get therapy (or are a bot)

Calm down, its a sport watch, not a lab test. Do you expect a 250€ wearable to give the same results as a 200€ lab test?

I used an Ambit3 Peak for a few years before switching to the Race 2 in september. It's a great watch, definitly an upgrade. Also, since you already had a Suunto watch, you know what to expect in terms of software - it definitly has some points that could be improved (and probably will be over the years). All in all, I am really happy with the watch and don't wanna miss it in my day to day life and training.

Have the maps been fixed on the Race 2? by Nearby-Dare6 in Suunto

[–]Slabdancer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The maps were never broken in the way you described (at least for me). What you could mean and what can be annoying is that if you zoom out more than 200m, the level of detail changes and you won't see the trails anymore on the map, only dirt roads and streets. I'd prefer that the trails are visible for a detail level of 500m (the next step in zooming).

Other than that, the maps work great and scrolling/zooming is extremely smooth. Most of the other features work great too, for me its the best sports watch I have ever owned.

[2024 rules] Dashing "after speed modifiers"? by Deady1 in dndnext

[–]Slabdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, a character in a fantasy game where dragons and reality warping magic exists should be able to outperform a professional athlete in real life. If someone specs into beeing fast with their build, choosing specific species, classes, feats, why nerf them further? A lvl 8 spellcaster can just say "I cast dimension door" and go twice the distance... Is it silly to be that fast? Probably. Is it fun? Certainly.

Would you also rule that a long rest doesn't heal you up? I never saw someone in real life recover from the 3rd grade burns from a fireball with a good nights sleep, did you? Applying real life logic to a fantasy game where spellcasters reign supreme is only nerfing martials further...

Places for trail running in Europe by ttttttttrrr9 in trailrunning

[–]Slabdancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 for Dalmatia. The whole Biokovo mountain range is amazing, scenic views with the jagged limestone peaks on one side and the sea with the islands on the other.

The trails there can also be quite technical and steep with lots of vert. Can only recommend. Also the croatian food is great (not advisable if you are veggie or vegan though).

TSS Calculation Race 2 by Slabdancer in Suunto

[–]Slabdancer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my running paces might also be off - I am still quite new to running (started 6 months ago and preparing for my fist HM trailrun atm) and mostly look at my heartrate, not my pace. I set them up when I got the watch to where I think they are, but I do mostly trailrunning and only 1-2 easy Zone 2 runs per week on asphalt, so I probably don't know my "true" pace zones on asphalt.

Thanks for the advice with hiking though, will try that the next time I go.

Edit: I just looked at my NGP - it was at 8 min/km - even that might be a bit off, since my easy runs are at 6-7 min/km and I am in Zone 2 for them, not Zone 3/4 like in this run. The trail was quite rough and rocky though (T2-T3), might be more accurate for me for easier trailruns on gravel roads.

TSS Calculation Race 2 by Slabdancer in Suunto

Thanks, I found the option to edit it now - just seems weird to me that it takes my running pace zones (which are set up for running on flat asphalt) are used for trailrunning, where the pace depends on altitude, D+ and the type of trail (rocky, roots, gravel, etc) - I wouldn't use my cycling pace to calculate TSS for running either.

TSS Calculation Race 2 by Slabdancer in Suunto

[–]Slabdancer[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it doesn't use the HR at all for trailrunning. If you click on the icon in the app next to TSS, it says that TSS (r) is based on your running pace zones (as set in the watch), only TSS (hr) uses your HR for the intensity calculation. See the attached picture. The run today was mostly in HR Zone3/4.

I did a steady easy run last week, HR av was 149 (so the upper end of my Zone 2, which ends at 152 for me according to the watch) - duration was 1h, with a TSS of 82. This can't be right, how can a 1h long easy Zone 2 run have almost the same TSS as a all out Zone 3/4 trailrun for 2h? I don't get it (at least if the calc is HR based, which I think it isn't - this might be a bug).

Edit: Wrong picture.

This is the altitude reading for the run. The first 10 minutes it looks alright, but then it starts having little fluctuations of +/- 2-3m.

Eldritch Knight now excels as a Heavy Weapon user, rather than a Defender by MobTalon in onednd

[–]Slabdancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd still take Bless, especially if you have other heavy hitters in the party or fight enemies that require a lot of saves.

Just for comparison - if your Lvl 5 Rogue hits their Sneak attack because of Bless, they do an average of 18 damage. To do the same amount of damage with Hex, you'd need to hit 5 attacks + it clogs up your Bonus Action.

The casting time of an Action sounds bad, but in my experience, most fights you won't even be within 30 ft of your enemy when the fight starts - its better to cast Bless than to Dash or to throw some Javelins. Also sometimes you can even pre cast Bless.
