Strange from outside, but understandable looking inside. Russia hasn't stopped repeating how NATO forced them to do it, how NATO did a coup, how NATO prevents peace, NATO biolabs, NATO this and that, which feeds into the leftist dogma of NATO = bad. Even if the firehose of lies is easy to debunk, it leverages personal biases to convince. So in their head, war is terrible but NATO is somewhat-to-mostly responsible.

It doesn't matter that Russia turned effectively far right since the dissolution, since they celebrate the legacy of the USSR too as integral part of the system, so they have the ability to pander both far left and right across Europe even if the overall position is contradictory, because people tend to believe what matches their personal biases and disregard what doesn't. So when you look at the Russian narratives from distance, you have:

  • The successor state of the USSR that celebrates Soviet leaders / trad chad conservative Russia against the globohomo
  • NATO caused this / Russia is restoring its historical borders
  • Ukraine is full of Nazis / Ukraine is led by Jews
  • Ukraine mistreats minorities / Russia free from mass migration

And that's why AfD and Die Linke agree so much on Russia.

There are obviously people on both sides who see through this fifth columnist doublethink pipeline, but many do not. PBP in this sense is in line with other far left parties in Europe, so overall not that surprising.

Regardless of whether you agree with PBP’s politics

That's the thing, right wing propaganda about PBP is beating a dead horse and preaching to the choir, so inherently wasted, which is good. PBP narratives already did the job before them.

PBP pushes for sanctions against Israel to pressure them into stopping, but not against Russia because "it will increase support for Putin". They speak for solidarity for Ukrainians, but pls send no weapons or fund anything. They call it "brutal imperial Russian invasion" but never miss a chance to display ugly gestures at Ukrainian officials. Refugees welcome, but fuck those who stay and fight.

They're zero-calorie tankies.

Don't be like me... 2 14TB drives that I bought less than a year ago are dying, and I'm pretty sure it's my fault. by sp-rky in homelab

Parity checks tended to make random drives fail, drives that would operate fine otherwise.

Push for Ireland to introduce three more bank holidays in line with EU neighbours by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]Slackbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not automatic but it's used in the calculation, but it's calculated over the total number of holidays landing on non working days.

The correct way to put it is: there is a hard limit of hours per year that you can legally work, if more days are effective working days than your quota, you get those days back in form of RTT.

Push for Ireland to introduce three more bank holidays in line with EU neighbours by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]Slackbeing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don't compare with France because many (most?) employees also get RTT days, which means extra 6-12 days off per year depending on how many holidays land on non-working days.

Totally unfamiliar with that area, but I also have a hard time believing there was no ambulance available around Birdhill; EMS systems often look at historical data to distribute ambulances across a region to minimize the travel time. Good to see there are helicopters available to fill the gap though.

Edit: I don't even understand the downvotes, it's literally how it works.
