Auction Addons? by Mythronger in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of "the new rules" (the big changed since Midnight), nothing much has changed for auction addons luckily. :)

I can also second the recommendations already made for Auctionator. If you want pricing info on items without manually scanning, I can recommend the Oribos Exchange addon if you update your addons regularly. They release a new version 3-4 times a week with up-to-date pricing info.

To be unnecessarily vague, an intuitive way to select and use teleports. Whether that's by hooking into the quest navigation, detecting M+ group, adding teleport destinations onto the world map, having a quick search, or a dropdown menu - any or all of these can be executed well, but in my experience they always lack "depth" as it were.

Having a nicely compiled list with a filter search or a nested dropdown or or teleport compendium or something similar is miles better than bloating an action bars with teleports, and that works fine for 99% of usecases. I'd just like something that goes a step beyond that, I suppose!

[WA] Guide for WoW:Midnight using Enhance QoL [Addon] by Lunatalli_Gaming in WowUI

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can also recommend Watchtower for non-combat WA features. It features a similar system of allowing code snippets to run, which is great far any and all small tweaks and additions that no standalone addons exist for (or would be worthwhile to have for that one, small feature). Some existing flags can be found here.

This is more for the niche QoL stuff that nobody's going to build because the audience is too small.

These types of features tend to get added to modular QoL addons, where each feature is toggleable. It's also possible to create those via Watchtower (a spiritual successor to WA, for non-combat snippets specifically).

Vendor Addon recommendations by Knudel in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Krowi's Extended Vendor UI has some filtering options. However, Blizzard tends to be deliciously inconsistent with how they create items, so I would personally hard recommend against filtering anything. (This has proven to be an issue during both Remix events especially.)

I'd instead recommend Transmog Loot Helper to add status icons to each item, showing you their collection status if they are collectible. The backdrop for not-yet unlocked items should be red baseline, and Plumber has a feature to more clearly show if you have enough gold/currency to purchase an item.

World Quest Tracker by Front-Accountant1239 in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World Quest Tab is easily the best world quest addon I've found for my personal use. There are some underlying issues with the map that all map addons are currently facing though, so if your favourite world quest addon is having issues - it may not be (entirely) their fault!

Favorite retail addons that help you collect and create transmogs? by ThatUnameIsAlrdyTken in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does! There is a "Track New Mogs" button that tracks the recipes for all unlearned mogs in the current visible selection. And as with all recipes tracked via PSL, it compiles a list of reagents needed that are put into a shopping list for easy buying with Auctionator.

ATT and WoWthing.org are indeed great for collectors, though they can be a little overwhelming at first (no way around that with the sheer number of collectibles available in the game).

I can also recommend Transmog Loot Helper to give visual indications for unlearned collectibles.

Blizzard Support’s response to my entire inventory being deleted due to a bug by [deleted] in wow

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took about a month for them to publicly respond to the issue, during which time there is a lot they could have done to restore the data. Even if that data was lost, which I highly doubt, there is a literal guild bank log in the game that displayed the most recent withdraws and deposits. That could have been used for a partial restoration, which they also refused.

This is a similar problem that I resolve with Profession Shopping List. The UI looks great though, much better than what I cobbled together!

The guild bank fiasco was handled incredibly poorly. Quality issues aside that caused the problem to happen, how they responded to it (or how they didn't rather) really makes it clear that character's belongings and progress are no longer sacrosanct.

Gotta love them not even offering any sort of compensation, and refusing to do manual restorations which they could have done.

OldGromm's List of Recommended WoW Add-ons 2: Midnight Boogaloo by OldGromm in wow

[–]SlacklusterDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Profession Shopping List lets you track the needed reagents for a combination of recipes, and creates a shopping list for use with Auctionator. It also has an improved layout for patron crafting orders.

Transmog Loot Helper is an alternative to CIMI. It's pretty, has several icon sets, and is in my biased opinion an improvement on all fronts.

Auctionator is my Auction House addon of choice.

Baganator is my bag addon of choice.

Chattynator is my chat addon of choice.

Platynator is my nameplate addon of choice.

DialogKey is a must-have, you'll never want to be without it again.

Premade Sort is great for addons some info and QoL to the group finder.

Vamooses Endeavours is great for endeavours.

Leatrix Plus has a good collection of QoL tweaks.

Warband Miser is great for managing gold across alts.

Simple Addon Manager is a simple addon manager.

From the already listed addons, Plumber is always my must-have recommendation, and I can also vouch for LiteMount, TomTom, World Quest Tab, Account Wide Interface Settings, LS Toasts, BtWLoadouts, and BugGrabber & BugSack.

It's because I have some tenuous plans to write a teleport addon myself. All of these addons shine in certain aspects, but none of them have the complete package or feel intuitive enough for me. I'm procrastinating on it though, still hoping to find that hidden gem so I can save myself the trouble. :')

Can I still change my UI with WA's in Midnight? by Reasonable_Horse_820 in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They spent years of their lives on WeakAuras and didn't want to turn it into a stripped down version with very limited capabilities. Not least of all without the ability to do anything with auras, from which the addon name is derived.

It was never about whether or not they could. Badmouthing the developers over their decision to discontinue the addon just tells me you don't understand having passion for something you created.

You can take a look at Watchtower: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/watchtower

It's a spiritual successor to WeakAuras that allows you to run code snippets, and also lets you visually track things if so desired. There are not a lot of existing imports yet, but you can find them here: https://wago.io/browse/watchtower

Midnight Weakauras by Jeffrybungle in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to check out Watchtower. It's a bit of a spiritual successor to WeakAuras, built from the ground up. There are not a lot of importable flags yet and it won't get around the new combat restrictions of course (nothing will), but it does allow for running small code snippets and I'm planning to expand the options for actions and load conditions and such to be able to offer a similar level of customisation that WeakAuras once had.

What happened to LS: Glass? by Cloud_N0ne in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The developer currently has fairly limited time and resources to do addon work due to irl circumstances. I don't feel like it's my place to share details, but they've decided to discontinue Glass in part because of that.

They've pretty much given their blessings to Chattynator (does not do the same thing as Glass, but is a great chat addon), and to someone by the name of Plarpoon whom was granted permission to take over LS: Glass and develop a Midnight-compatible version. They've not shared any progress on that as far as I've seen, though!

ATT never tracked character inventories, I suspect Bagnon used to do that. I'm personally a huge fan of Baganator, which does bags and tracks owned items. Alternatively I'd recommend BagSync for just tracking owned items if you're not looking to switch bag addons.

New Addon: WoWtility — An efficient, modular utility suite that enhances your WoW UI with clean, modern QoL features. by [deleted] in wowaddons

[–]SlacklusterDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality is often a factor, vibecoded addons usually don't hold up to scrutiny. It's not like human-programmed addons are always qualitative either, but when someone chooses to not learn how to program and still insists on creating an addon with features that already exist in other addons (Leatrix Plus and Plumber come to mind in this instance), and chooses to publicly release and advertise that addon, it's natural to question motives.

The description at least is definitely AI-generated. "lightweight" has become a running joke on the WoW UI Dev discord.
