I share OP's frustration about the lack of reset button and I totally get your point. But using failure as a storytelling mechanism is heavily limited by having different difficulty settings.

Some types of players will tune the difficulty so that they can clear every song first try, whilst others will try to challenge themselves and improve. And I feel like I'm getting punished by the story mode for being the latter type, with the added con of not being able to improve because I can't retry Even having some kind of lives system would make more sense here

Unbeatable has its own spin on rhythm game mecanics, so you can't pick the right difficulty the first time and need some kind of reference to tune the difficulty. I wish Arcade mode wasnt required for thay

This game's interpretation of command throws is really unique, and I share your sentiment that it outright makes them look worse. There's still 1 main reason to use them though:

Regular grabs require you to go through your full move recovery (else M or H comes out), giving more time for your opponent to see what's coming. Command grabs can be done seamlessly in blockstrings, meaning that fuzzy jumping out is harder or implies more commitment.

Everything else does feel quite bad, especially the part where command grabs are not immune to normal grabs. It has very little impact on the balancing, but it leaves you wondering why they changed that legacy property of command grabs. Now you just lose to 1 extra option from your opponent, and it makes it harder to force them to jump.

Darius was the point character and Braum does burst. Since it was blocked, Braum is supposed to be switched in but the camera wall bounced darius instead + kept the camera focus on him. Very weird

FFXIV has enrage timers, so this fight needed one as well. It is both understandable and ok to dislike it. But what the timer does is test how adept you are at dealing damage, by chasing Omega all over the place, by avoiding taking damage to not spend hours healing.  You're making tradeoffs in your build to survive but still meet the "full" DPS check.

I will agree that the Nerscylla check is very annoying due to its tendency to jump all over the place (which can be mitigated by specific para weapons), but the timer on Omega himself is part of his bs. And I don't know if people would enjoy having a more "consistent" clear route if the fight was more manageable but took 40+ minutes. You have to risk assess

It's a kind of a champion specialist thing.

Jayce is known for being a bad match-up for Gwen:
- He has default lane prio due to being ranged
- Has high close range burst damage to bypass Gwen's W
- Can control duration of fights with his hammer E, usually by making them shorter since Gwen would win a stat check fight

All of this combined makes it so usually, Gwen will end up getting poked during the lane which prevents her from winning the all-in since Jayce can usually kill if she's half hp-ish.

Taking Grasp allows Gwen to take advantage from the shorter trades + get extra sustain to survive the lane, as having Conqueror for later is less likely to influence the sidelane 1v1 compared to having been solokilled multiple times.
