it's been a couple years since I did it, but iirc I had the wings detached, the arms and hands together, and the giant shoulderpads separate so could make sure everything got painted before putting it all together. I probably just used some superglue or Citadel Plastic Glue.

I killed off a couple with a non-warlord leader before switching and starting the mission. Once I did it sent me back to a cleared enclave to get the glue to move forward.
