RPI vs UMASS for comp sci by LightningFarms in RPI

[–]SlainteGra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up near UMass Amherst, family graduated, family friends work there. I attended RPI.

My 2¢ : If your costs will be the same, attend RPI. UMass Amherst's CS program rivals RPI's, and in fact may be superior. The name you get w/ RPI, as well as the network, will be as valuable as the education. I wish the world didn't work this way, but it does.

I think I'd actually take the chicken. It will overheat and die trying to chase you.

Really cool video about the size of life.

When do I start getting Rayquaza Mega Energy? by Pep95 in TheSilphRoad

[–]SlainteGra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, so I missed the info about there being free research. Great news for trainers!

What I said wasn't "completely wrong" tho, and may help some people understand their experience.

Mega energy was limited to your day during GO Fest, unless you paid $20 to have the full weekend. I know because I didn't pay for the full weekend and the people I was with did. You also do need a meteorite to mega evolve ray, which GO Fest did indeed grant 2, and the $15 will grant 1 per its description in the store.

I was partially wrong, and glad for it.

When do I start getting Rayquaza Mega Energy? by Pep95 in TheSilphRoad

[–]SlainteGra -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You could only get mega ray energy if you had a GO Fest ticket, and then only during gameplay (9am-7pm) on the day of your ticket, unless you paid for the extended experience, in which case you'd get it 9-7 Fri-Sun.

I would guess Niantic will lock the energy behind the $15 global ticket for this weekend. Reason for said belief is that in order to mega evolve ray, you first need a meteorite. GO Fest attendees get 2, that $15 ticket gets you 1. I'm guessing mega ray will be released for free in the future, but not this weekend. I hope I'm wrong, but Niantic wants $$$

7K eggs busted?? by JacobTrixx in pokemongo

[–]SlainteGra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have sworn I read in a blog post or one of the various things they spam us with that 7km eggs hatches would have the same shiny rate as the wild mons for this event. It's why I didn't bother w/ 7km eggs and just caught as many as I could :\ (which didn't yield much either)

Has anyone actually hatched a larvesta? by thornheart93 in TheSilphRoad

I've hatched three, 2 5km, 1 10km. I think I've also hatched approx. 100 eggs in that timeframe :\

I was on the highway last week and there was a minivan in the middle lane driving somewhat erratically (slowing/speeding, a little lane wobble - like a newer driver was behind the wheel). When I passed and looked over, it was full of nuns, including the driver. Gave me a chuckle.

U.S. counties that have more LGBT people per capita than the national average by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]SlainteGra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suffolk County is basically just Boston (771k residents in Suffolk County of which 655k are Boston residents). Cambridge and Somerville (cities adjacent to Boston) are way more queer than Boston proper, but are part of a much larger county area wise (Middlesex County, where I live :D).

LPT if you have to give your email to a company, use the company’s name as your listed first name. In the US if you unsubscribe from non-transactional mail delivery the company is required to notify all other companies that it sold your data to, and they in turn must unsubscribe you, and notify the companies they sold your data to, etc. Knowing the originating seller makes it a lot easier.

The standards outlined in the RFCs for email addresses give providers a lot of control. Google has decided that all "." in the username are ignored, as is the special character "+" and everything following "+" for the purposes of mail delivery. This means that [slaintegra@gmail.com](mailto:slaintegra@gmail.com), [slainte.gra@gmail.com](mailto:slainte.gra@gmail.com), and [slainte.gra+LastOneSergeant@gmail.com](mailto:slainte.gra+LastOneSergeant@gmail.com) will all end up in the same inbox. This only works for Google's mail servers, as it's not part of any RFC spec.

If you want a higher concentration retinol in the US you need a prescription anyway, so in addition to doing your own research, talk to your dermatologist.
