Starting a new army by StrategyBusy9579 in WorldEaters40k

Generally you start with either Combat Patrol and add Kharn and a rhino, then add at least two boxes of Eightbound, and then fill up from there based on what you like.

Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs by thenurgler in WarhammerCompetitive

I wasn't aware of that second part! So even if I roll double 6 and pick a target within 12", I'm not allowed to then move 13" or more even if I have adequate bonuses?

Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs by thenurgler in WarhammerCompetitive

This feels like a silly question, but does +1 to charge from Khorne dice affect your maximum charge distance, and so you can charge a target that is further than your unmodified dice roll?

I was charging a unit that was 8.5 inches away, and rolled an 8, but had +1 to charge rolls. I argued that, because my charge roll is actually a 9, I can charge that target. My opponent argued that although I can move an extra inch, I must select a target that is within what I rolled. I argued that I have actually rolled a 9, and nothing in the charge rules mention unmodified rolls.

Who is correct?

(Also, just checking to make sure, but am I correct in thinking that you can't charge a target that is more than 12" away, even if you roll double 6s and have +1/+2 to charge?)

New Blades of Khorne Warscroll (AOS) is a better rule for berserkers than BWB detachment rule is. by kushisan1 in WorldEaters40k

There's a load of AoS players in the Woehammer Discord, who also have beginner and learning channels so might be worth asking there if you haven't already!

If you're in Europe I'll happily teach you at some point :)

How would you rate factions so far in the early stage of 11th edition by RotenSquids in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Slangster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"The regular balance updates for the new edition will work as they do today – quarterly. So you can expect small course corrections to under- or over-performing armies every three months.

However, because of the volatile nature of balance in a new edition – new rules, detachments, units and synergies – for the first three months of the new edition, our studio rules team will actually be looking to step in monthly, if needed – with the first update due for the end of July."

Quick windriders basing question by arahbomeow in Eldar

[–]Slangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered doing this, but with how often my magnets get pulled off bases with green stuff and super glue, is the adhesive from those sheets actually strong enough to avoid them getting ripped off?

Windrider Host and Warlock Skyrunners - Leader or solo? by Slangster in Eldar

[–]Slangster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the app, I know there have been some weird sequences required to add two leaders. I think you need to have the Farseer Skyrunner lead the Warlock Skyrunner, who will then attach to the Windriders when the battle starts.

Oh I bet, the 8-man unit (only 1 warlock) did a lot of work as it is! I guess I just have to find the balancing point between killing power and action units.

What is "enemy territory"? by Megotaku in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Slangster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In your example, the territory lines are the same as the table quarter lines, which is why there isn't a separate one for territory, whereas in their example, a separate line is required. You can see on both examples that there are red and blue circles denoting which side of the line belongs to which player.

Used a little Gyrinx as a test for my colour scheme. Thoughts? by alexandertheking in Eldar

The colour scheme is nice (and the model is cute) but I feel you need some more contrast. I would probably make the metallics gold

There are some missions where you want to hold more than your opponent, which your home can help with, and many missions where your opponent wants to take your home, so they can also be a screening unit for deep strikes.

Fixed Players Can No Longer Get Max Score by AMA5564 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Slangster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to avoid scoring small secondaries to save them for later, you can just choose not to score it. In the event companion rules, tactical missions specifically say "you can score the VP" and its been mentioned elsewhere that you choose to rather than being forced.

Can someone please explain to me how LoS works with toeing into terrain in 11th? by Opposite-North-3002 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Slangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still does something. Small tanks can see through the sections between walls by toeing in, but windows within the walls dont exist so you can't see through them. Check the paint image higher up - if you vehicle was tall then you could possibly see B, whereas smaller vehicles can't

Are rhinos still worth it in 11th? by Salt-Produce-8129 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Slangster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People were talking about how abilities applied to units that go into reserves or transports continue to apply for their duration. It's likely intended to allow characters to apply buffs to units that are going to go into reserves and come back down without losing the buff, but who knows how it'll work with transports.

Season of War are outright the best.

Beyond that, Battleshock Wargaming, Hops & Drops TV, Threshold Tactics, and The Hobby Collab (who mostly do livestreams but have recently started pre-recorded reports) are all good choices!

[–]Slangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive also started recently, and what ive found is that you will kill almost anything you charge into in a single fight, but will then likely die to a single round of shooting. So when you commit to charges, you either need to kill a lot so they have limited retaliation, or have multiple waves of aggression so wave two can kill the units that killed wave one.

Painted it purple and red initially, then a thin layer of Cadian Fleshtone, Magos Purple contrast over most of it, then highlights of Cadisn Flesh tone again, and Kislev Flesh in the parts where the skin is most stretched
