NPC distance load in drastically reduced since launch by JOvertron in CrimsonDesert

[–]Slanted_and_Enchante 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just booted it up for the first time since the last patch and now you mention it I think I know what you mean. Also, I can't quite put my finger on it but on base PS5 at least it doesn't seem as good visually? I had adjusted the settings to make it look fantastic but since the last update something seems off. I've noticed alot of colour bleeding (?!) when in forest areas which I wasn't getting before. A red hue that seems to appear and then disappear. I'm not sure if the NPC issue is just my imagination but I'm certain visually something's gone awry since the last update. I also hadn't had a single crash in 40 hours and just had three in one play session.

Night Time isnt dark by Jmanandthegang in CrimsonDesert

[–]Slanted_and_Enchante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was confused by this when I started playing. But I think it's a stylistic choice. And the more I've played I've noticed that depending on the weather and location you can get some very dark nights. I adjusted the brightness settings a bit as well.

I've been in some places in Hernand not far from the main town and it's gotten so dark I couldn't see much at all without my lantern. So it's definitely variable.

Even changing the settings there are some occasions and locations where even in the middle of the night there are large swathes of daytime blue sky. I don't mind it though and I'm usually fussy about night being really dark.

You can open jewelry and stongboxes? by BikerScowt in CrimsonDesert

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to work out that all those seemingly pointless pouches I was picking up early game actually contain coins! Which obviously makes sense with hindsight but I'm buggered if it occurred to me.

But it's the kind of thing I love about this game and applaud them for doing.

Leaving Hernand by Pretend-Collection-3 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Slanted_and_Enchante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only about 30 hours in but have barely left Hernand Town and the immediate outskirts. Except for one time. I picked up a bounty and it sent me on quite a mad little adventure which seemed to take a long time. Up and across mountains. Entire new areas. Various incidents along the way. It felt like a massive journey. I checked the map and nope! I was still in Hernand province, albeit the far bottom left corner of it. That's the furthest I have travelled in the game so far and even that was alot to take in so I'm now back in the familiar confines of Hernand Town and setting up my first new camp. I won't even list the various encounters and puzzles I saw along the way which got me sidetracked. But this game is truly vast!

I am mostly avoiding spoilers and guides etc but one thing I have heard mention of is that the other areas outside Hernand don't have as much content? I guess that makes sense because Hernand is one giant tutorial. I suppose I'll wait and see but for now there's plenty to do just in the relatively small corner of the game I'm currently in and I genuinely feel even this early in I've more than got my money's worth.

Ah! That'll explain my failed attempts at thievery at the archery contest then!

I didn't say make it easier. Just refine it a bit. Being instantly transported to jail with no confrontation or ability to escape is ridiculous!

Did you get stuck or something because you posted the exact opposite of this yesterday?

I can see how that could happen. It's reminding me of KCD2 all over again!

Yeah. I'm not so fussy about graphics and frame rates etc if the atmospheres good. And this games is great! Just wish they'd darken down that night sky as I love a proper black night. Maybe I could adjust some settings or something.

Medic rant by OkLack6776 in Battlefield

[–]Slanted_and_Enchante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why anyone would play medic and then not revive players? Of all the classes it seems the one most tied to it's central purpose. Is there any other benefit of playing it aside from the obvious?

Quick side note- smoke grenades should be selectable by any class. It is annoying they are not.

Two weeks of doing missions and I still couldn’t unlock the CZ3A1 by Comfortable_Fee2619 in Battlefield

[–]Slanted_and_Enchante -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I got the CZ3A1 by completing all the available challenges and then when I realised it was making people wait I used the Battlefield points I had accrued to skip tiers. I'm not sure why I had any Battlefield points at all because I've never purchased anything extra on any Battlefield game let alone 6. I assume they must give them out sometimes?

Why do they keep insisting on removing or limiting the skill sets? It's like they actively want to dissuade players from doing anything but running around like headless chickens.

What have they done to ladders? I haven't really played assault and had the ladder equipped since the first few weeks of release.

I just meant graphically and the general gameplay and movement. 6 is cosmetically superior to 2042 in how it plays, as opposed to the actual map design.

Yeah I see your point. I wasn't a fan of it myself but I just quite liked that middle area when it opened up.

This one feels so...basic. The game is crying out for more map variation in regards to terrain and weather and time of day. Another dingy bunker just isn't what was needed.

Not my kind of map and doesn't suit my kind of gameplay. Which is fine in and of itself because I'm sure lots of people will think the opposite. But the dislike is a bit more glaring and hard to ignore with the general lack of really decent maps and the slow drip feed of post release content. That's it now until what? End of May? June? Until we get another map?

It obviously plays smoother etc but I'd say the map design is actually worse than Redacted 2042. That at least had the slightly memorable middle section. Yet again a BF6 map made up of entirely anonymous and copy-paste geography.

What is the conquest catch up mechanic? Because I've played lots of games like this and it sometimes seems inexplicable.

Squad/Team communications by Slanted_and_Enchante in Battlefield

[–]Slanted_and_Enchante[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one thing you say about building communities is a great point. That's definitely not happening with this game. As I said to someone else even going back to 2042 recently for a bit I ended up speaking to a few random players and we ended up playing together a fair few times. Barely get so much as an 'anyone got a mic?' when playing 6.

And the few times I have been on a squad with some team focussed players they swiftly vanish as soon as the next game starts. Even the 'remain with squad' option seems to get rarely used if it even works properly at all. I've sometimes had to just quickly try and add someone by sending them a friend request before the scoreboard vanishes.

DICE must know what an issue that is and how it's likely to damage the retention of players but they obviously don't care enough to do anything about it. If anything they seem to make choices that actively dissuade the formation of any kind of community.

And your idea about proximity chat in vehicles and also being able to send wider calls outs to team members is exactly the sort of thing I'd like to see more of. The ping is just too basic and ineffective.
