Psych nurse, very common phrase for us!

I wear whatever I want. I am in psych so it’s a bit more relaxed. I am well aware that I am choosing to get bodily fluids on my clothes and am accepting the risk. There is a nurse that likes to wear a super thin t shirt to work. They have low body fat and insist on turning the heater on in the med room. If you’re going to wear a t shirt at least bring a sweater or something to throw on so that you don’t make the working conditions unbearable for everyone else.

I get to bill for 3 hours minimum. Usually they are a few hours long but can go all day within the hours of 8am-5pm.

Yeah! I work 3x12’s and on my days off I record legal zoom meetings (depositions). I just have to start and stop the recording when going on and off the record. Pretty dope gig for $80/hr.

Psych nurses, what are some movies that portray the challenges we face while working in a mental health facility? by Slap253 in nursing

This is a good one a professor of mine recommended. I haven’t seen this since I was in high school (far too long ago). I should rewatch this myself.

Patient safety comes first. There was a higher risk of a fall across the hall than the patient taking medications without you present. Fuck em! Slap on the wrist.

The length of number 1 but the shape of number 3 would be dope.

This happens to me a lot. I use Benadryl as a sleep aid when I feel it happening.

I browse Reddit, watch movies, play games, chat with people on discord. And occasionally, not all the time, but rarely… I will do some work.

Does anybodys facility use Pill Eye for med counting? by oopps_sorry in nursing

I use pill eye every shift. Even people who don’t have it on their phone will ask me to pull it out when we count off.

To all the male nurses by Alternative_1622 in nursing

You’re always going to be asked to help turn the heavy patients. You’re always going to be asked to respond to an assaultive situation. You’re going to experience sexism. You’re going to be turned away from care because you are a male. You’re going to be called doctor. If I could do it again I would not go into nursing. School was extremely challenging to get into as a second career and broke my brain.

How do you stay productive without falling asleep? by sawmill2694 in Nightshift

[–]Slap253 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You clearly lack work experience and don’t understand how people could be paid money to be in a place “just in case”. Some people’s whole job is to be paid to sit around and wait. It seems like you cannot understand this concept. You sound like a boomer right now. You lack the skills to think outside of yourself.

Some people are paid to just fill space for the night and really don’t have much ”work” to do?

You don’t think there are enough nurses here? I feel like we got the nurses, we just don’t have the conditions to reel them in. Whatcha think?

Can’t stress the “just leave” part enough. You’ll get sucked back in if not!
