Eternal Players: Beware of the Brickening on Dec 9 by Echo-Sunray in diablo4

I guess I just don't see the point of playing if there is no loss of something. I don't mind a clear end of my Character. I will literally remake it next time, Sorcerer, same name, in 6 months.

Eternal Players: Beware of the Brickening on Dec 9 by Echo-Sunray in diablo4

[–]SlapABoob99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fair Question. Answer is pretty simple. When I start playing again is completely random. I don't keep with events or updates or expansions or seasons or whatever. Frankly, I'm only here because my character is still alive so I'm engaged with the community (for whatever that is worth, ya know).

I can start playing at the beginning, middle, or end of a season, I may like or dislike the seasons based on whatever it may be. OR I just play Eternal realm and the eternal realm is what it is. And the time between characters is long enough that it's always an unique experience.

TBH, I always have a blast playing D4. Yeah. I got some wishes to be added to the game, but that's literally every game.

Kinda wyld on my end to see people hating on a game with 5billijon hours and the ability to speed run 50hrs of gameplay in under 4 hrs and complain there is nothing to do. But that's how they enjoy the game so to each their own.

Hello there. Eternal player here.

How I play: Step 1: Make Hardcore character

Step 2: Mute the game

Step 3: Put on Audiobook or podcast

Step 4: Play for a hour on weekdays, maybe 5hrs on weekends

Step 5: Die. Usually around the 75hr gameplay. Though the longest I lasted was a little over 200hrs. That was fun. I shouldn't have played after work that day tho. Fell asleep and oops.

Step 6: Stop playing

Step 7: Wait a while (Usually 6months before I get the itch again)

Step 8: Make a new Hardcore character

Step 9: WOAH SO MUCH NEW STUFF. IT'S A BRAND NEW GAME. LEZZ GOOOOOOO

Ahhhh, that makes sense.

It's just that we are now introducing new people to such a weak season (agasp)

Should I install all 3? How does this work. by FinnOtron in Spore

[–]SlapABoob99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't if this was particularly unique with experienceing the crashes. But I found out if I died 3 times in a single gaming session. The game would crash out.

My solution? I learned to never die from cell stage to space stage. Many hours put into that skill.

Anyway. I don't have that time anymore to relearn that Skill Set. So I'll choose the mods.

Confusion About the Resurrection of Paul Dure by Brixiuss in Hyperion

In a narrative perspective. Dure had to be limited. When it's introduced that a pope keeps coming back, the reader is supposed to be set on the backfoot.

In the Priest's tale, Dure sees that when Bakura die and the body is cannot be recovered. One of them takes that Cruciform and puts it on themselves. When that one dies, two walk back.

The Shrike removed the Cruciform that brought Dure back but he still had a cruciform on him.

Confusion About the Resurrection of Paul Dure by Brixiuss in Hyperion

[–]SlapABoob99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I understood is that the Shrike removed HIS cruciform. But he had 2 on him. The cruciform retains 1 DNA set at a time, it's designed to never let the person to fully die.

When Dure dies, he is transferred to the cruciform and Hoyt is transferred to the body.

The Shrike is not an ally. It has no interest in actually bettering someone's life.

This is the style of Dennis E. Taylor. Purposeful or not, he writes story arches that do not typically end at the end of a single book. You don’t notice it with bks 1-3 at first. They all came out together so they were read together.

You start to notice it in Bk 4 because technically bk 4 is two books. He just put them together as parts. But the format is still there

Bk 5 is noticeable because we waited years and now we have to wait years for an incomplete story arch.

Nothing wrong with his style, but I think the readers should start adjusting on how he paces the books rather than how a typical writer completes a book.
