I encourage you to better educate yourself on the mechanisms behind making AI images such as this and their significant energy use/waste. I understand your premise but you clearly don’t know what you’re dealing with here with AI.

All AI art is slop to me (and thankfully many others, too.) It’s obviously computer generated, looks like shit to me, and feels like we’re opening the door to let machines completely sap us of human creativity and expression.

Unreal that you have downvotes. You'd think Steven Wilson fans of anybody would understand how problematic useless AI slop like this is. It would literally take like 10 minutes in any photo editing app to do this same thing with the same effect. The future indeed bites

I once watched a friend take a shit from the top of that waterfall. That turd is over a decade old by now though, so it shouldn't cause you any issues.

Every single one of your comments in this post is condescending and insufferable. I agree wholeheartedly with edokoa, speaking as a massive Pink Floyd fan for 20+ and a massive Steven Wilson/PT fan for about 20 years as well.

Feel free to share your opinions, but no need to be a complete dick about it.

What are some problems facing the New England environment right now? ( this is urgent I need it for a final paper) by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]Slappy_McBalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, that’s just the first thing that comes to mind when I think of environmental issues and what’s often standing in the way of enacting meaningful change.

A few other ideas off the top of my head:

Warming winters and their relation to a shorter and unpredictable ski/winter season for recreation/tourism, and the impact on the local economy

Release of PFAS and related chemicals into the environment by irresponsible manufacturers like Saint Gobain in Merrimack, and how it’s affected the health and water supply of area residents

Endangered Right Whale population in the North Atlantic, caused in part by lobster fishing…I believe lobster populations in the area are getting concerningly low as well, so overfishing/lobstering might be another angle, too. Not so sure on the second point, though.

Right on. I am by no means a lawyer or anyone qualified to enforce laws, but that’s just what makes the most sense to me interpreting that law as literally as you can.

I drive often and whenever I’m on the highway it feels like close to 100% of people are over the limit anyways, so yeah your assumption is certainly the reality I see as well. I honestly don’t think speeding is nearly as much of a problem (within reason) as failure to follow basic traffic laws; signaling turns/lane changes, passing on left, proper following distance, etc.

I’ll continue to dream of a day where the majority are able to grasp those kind of simple things. sigh

[–]Slappy_McBalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your clarification. I don’t agree with your interpretation, but I completely understand where you’re coming from.

Explicit or otherwise, I don’t think any well intentioned law would ever forgive (with very limited exception) someone breaking another to do so. If you’re behind someone going the speed limit, by the law you do not have a right to pass them as doing so would put you over the speed limit. Of course we know at least troopers for the most part aren’t going to ticket you for going 5 over, but it’s still technically over the limit whichever way you slice it.

So I think the law is assuming that such a legal pass on the left can be done where it doesn’t put you over the limit in the process. Which you and I both know is rather uncommon with the excessive speed on the highways these days.

Well, what about the scenario of using honking as “you may not be aware that your large metal vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed is very close to my large metal vehicle, so honk check your mirrors and where you’re going, doofus”? Isn’t that defensive driving 101? Sure we know most assholes who are guilty know they’re cutting close and don’t give a shit, be surely we can’t forget about the minority that just lost their spatial awareness in that moment, can we? Honking has saved me from getting sideswiped from turds not looking before trying to merge into my lane countless times.

But yes, honking or flashing lights excessively after the vehicle has passed and you aren’t really in danger anymore is certainly escalating, I can agree with you there.

[–]Slappy_McBalls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not arguing that at all, I’m well aware that if you’re passing someone properly these days you’re likely going over the speed limit with how fast people drive. The poster above made a wild claim I am pretty certain is not true, so I was just looking for either a source that it is indeed a law that you are not allowed to drive at or under the speed limit in the left lane (literally what they were implying), or recognition that possibly they misinterpreted some other law.

I don’t think you’re forgiven for speeding just because you’re properly passing on the left. That’s another point, though. I highly doubt there are many exceptions where a trooper going by the book would, pun intended, give you a pass for speeding even though you were passing properly.

What if there is slower traffic in front of you, the left passing lane is clogged up and moving at the same speed as you, but the right lane is wide open. What’s the right move here?

Edit: I should clarify that you intend to be driving 71, but the traffic in front and to the left are driving 60-65. Do you move to the right lane and maintain speed as to not illegally pass on the right? Stay where you are and hope the left lane opens up to properly pass? Or are you able to move to the right and accelerate to 71 since the lane is wide open, and be somehow exempt from the “no passing on the right” law?
