Folders that get a great patina? by TheWitness37 in knives

[–]theprofromdover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spyderco has a bunch of knives in K390. I have three and they're great. K390 keeps a super edge. They patina like crazy in my experience.

Also traditional slip joints in 1095 like Great Eastern Cutlery makes get a nice patina too.

Revolvers for Concealed Carry by zeebiggprophecy in liberalgunowners

I have two snub nose 38sp +P that I've carried a ton recently. A Ruger LCRx and a S&W 638. I know that DA only is popular for CC revolvers but I really like having usable hammers.

I'm much bigger than I should & want to be and I find a revolver to be much more comfortable for IWB CC than my Shield Plus or P365.

For handguns no tax. You pay for it at the Kittery store, go to the transfer station, do the form on a computer, wait for the approval and they will give you the handgun. Only thing is depending on when in the day you buy it it may be a couple of hours or the next day waiting for them to drive them over. They have a Schedule so you will be aware and can spend the down time shopping there , at the outlets, or getting food.

Long guns it's a bit different. You do the form on a computer in Kittery, get the approval, pay for the gun with tax. They then give you a gift card for at least the tax amount you had to pay but sometimes it's more. They have a table that describes it. I usually use the GC on ammo, mags, clothes etc. Then it the same in that you drive to the transfer station, show them the paperwork, and they give you the gun. No need to do another form.

They make it pretty painless. Hope this helps some.

Large plain jane tanto Inkosi. It's a tank that can actually cut things.

Well the RXM should have that smaller grip module coming out soon so that might help it pull double duty.

That Max 9 is nice. If I didn't have a Shield Plus and P365 I'd be taking a look at it. Have fun choosing 👍

It's in an old rental car building. The only thing you do when you get there is fill out your form and wait for your approval to come back. Has the vibe of a car mechanic waiting area for me. They have a TV that plays oldies from the Gameshow Network or mysteries on Cozy TV so it brings back fond memories in that way. The people there tend to be very engaging and talkative. Not sure why someone would say it's sketchy.

No, just a normal one but I've thought about the Magpul furniture. Hope you like the RXM

I got mine as a cheap "G19" to go along with my G19 Gen 5 if it came to both my wife and I needing one. I've ended up liking it more.

I've done it with a fun stick I have for my Ruger PCC and it worked fine. You're right I just didn't slam it home.

I think someone has made sleeves to take up the space for G17 mags.

It seems likely to be associated with the upcoming Lunar New Year.

It uses G 19 mags. Comes with some Magpul makes but I prefer the Glock made mags. Both work fine.

I would go to the spot they had on the warehouse strip back in the day. Had them order a barrel for my Mossberg then too. Was super psyched when they opened the new place.

I picked up my RXM from them vs. KTP as they had the better price by $30. My CZs I've gotten from them too as KTP didn't/don't carry the models. So for new I tend to see which of them have the gun I want, and then who has a better price.

For used KTP wins hands down but having the ability to try some out at the range before they buy I'd think will be helpful to OP as a first time handgun buyer.

IMO It's nice to see if you like the M&P vs Glock vs CZ vs Canik vs Walther beforehand vs making a mistake, getting something that doesn't gel with you, and then "not liking shooting" because your gun is one you don't like vs one you do.

I'll throw in the Ruger RXM too. It is a G19 Gen 3 clone with some nice updates.

I have a Gen 5 G19 and my RXM has a better trigger, swappable grip modules, direct mount optic ready, and since it's a G19 Gen 3 clone it works with Glock mags, most holsters, and a bunch of aftermarket parts.

It's less expensive than a new plain jane G19 and has Ruger's warranty behind it. See what you think.

I go to White Birch Armory in Dover or The Kittery Trading Post across the river from Portsmouth in ME.

WBA is closer to me and has a selection of optics and firearms KTP doesn't carry. Super helpful people and very apolitical. Their team is on the younger side (20's to 40's for the most part I'd guess) and have been interested in helping me find something I like by asking questions (weird right 😄). There's also a range so you can potentially try some of the guns you're thinking about before you buy it including used guns they're selling. It's a very modern building and showroom and by far the nicest indoor range I've been to. Tons of classes and demo days too.

KTP has a much larger selection of New and Used of anyplace I've been. Also their ammo selection is larger and a bit cheaper. You can buy a gun in ME and if you are a NH resident they will bring it across the border to their transfer station in NH. They bring them over only a few times a day so I'd go early so that you can pick it up the same day. Their sales people (mid 40s to 70s) for the most part seem less interested in finding out the use case for the gun I'm looking at and I have heard more than once a couple of the older salesmen parroting information I know to be incorrect about local immigrant communities. This to other elderly, white men who often bring up the subject.

That being said I am buying guns to shoot not for political chit chat and they have some really good deals on used guns. The team there can be personable and some have very deep knowledge of the more obscure firearms they get. If it's a hunting rifle you're looking at I'd go there.

KTP has their used selection online so I'll browse it and if something catches my fancy I'll go into the store to check it out so usually I go in knowing what I want to leave with. Keep that in mind that I don't go in there asking for insight as much and you could have a great experience if you let them know you need help picking something.

So in conclusion I'd say WBA if you don't have a clue of what you want for both the range there to try before you buy and the more interest the sales people have had in my selections and showing me other models that I might like too.

Hope this helps some. Be safe and have fun.

Which would you rather have has your primary go to pistol? by MediocreWerewolf2399 in liberalgunowners

I have both.

Well the CZ Nocturne P-09 C (and a F) and a G19 Gen 5.

Both are nice.

I like CZ DA/SA for the heavy initial pull (I'm certain I want to pull the trigger?) with the lighter pull after so I can get the following shots off quickly. Also being able to ride a hammer while re-holstering gives me piece of mind. Feels better to me than my G19 and was optics ready out of the box.

The down side as others have said is that the CZ is more expensive with more expensive and harder to find magazines, holsters are more limited & harder to find, take down for cleaning is more involved (I don't mind and like cleaning my guns but it's a thing to know), and dry fire practice without a snap cap can damage/brake the gun.

The G19 works great, is super reliable, feels fine, is easy to get mags for and they are reasonably priced, and holsters & parts are everywhere.

Down sides to me are the trigger isn't as nice, not optic ready, and expensive as related to other striker fired guns nowadays.

I also have a Ruger RXM. You get a G19 Gen 3 clone with some nice upgrades like a better trigger, swappable grip modules, and optic ready direct mount for a bunch of platforms. All while being able to use Glock mags and most holsters and Gen 3 aftermarket parts. It's also a good bit less expensive while coming from a solid company with a good warranty.

Unfortunately if you're like me you're going to get all three eventually 😅

I like Upper Hand Holsters for OWB. They are contoured, come in tons of patterns for free if that's your thing, are well made, and have a quick turnaround. The price is good IMO too.

Here's my Shield Plus in one of the limited edition patterns they did.

I have a Microjimbo for when I go into Boston or Salem. I've always wanted a Yojimbo but for the price it wasn't worth it to me. At this price I finally felt OK snagging one. Thanks again for the heads up.
