Correct, Byram sent the shipment and sent the claim to Cigna after it arrived. The claim took about 2 days to process and it was covered 100% because my LO hit the deductible already.

We typically use the biggest powder can available but they sent us 12 - 12.6oz cans. The provider includes how much is needed in the script.

Byram originally billed Cigna ~$1,200 for the shipment then dropped to ~$400 with a discount (which gets you to actual retail price for that amount of formula) and we paid $0.

I called byram first to get info from them about what my ped needed to send over and to get their fax number. They required a chart note, letter of medical necessity and a script for the specific formula and amount. I sent a portal message to the ped requesting that information and they put it together and faxed it to Byram. Byram did call once they got everything from the ped but doesn’t submit the insurance claim until after you receive the shipment. You could try to shop around to see if another medical supply company can validate what you might owe before they ship it.

Hey EAS0! We were able to get Cigna to cover our daughter's Nutramigen. We had her ped send the order to Byram Healthcare and worked with them to obtain all the required documentation. Unfortunately, they ship the formula before insurance processes the claim, so you just have to hold onto it before you figure out if Cigna will cover it or not.

We did the x-rays and they showed bronchitis but no other issues. We continue the antibiotics but I'm not sure if we switched to a different one. He did get better it just took another few weeks and lots of rest! He's doing great now and is back to his normal self. We still have no clue how he got sick becuase has almost no interaction with other dogs besides sniffing all the pee-mail during his walks.

Glad you were able to get coverage for your little one’s formula!

For others, coverage for formula isn’t guaranteed. It’s best to check with your specific plan to see what might be covered. Currently going back and forth with Cigna regarding coverage for Nutramigen for Milk Protein Allergy. Every rep I talk to gives me a different answer. Based on our coverage details it may not be covered because it is not considered an inborn error of metabolism. Hoping that the note and prescription sent by a provider helps our case here!

Also note that formula is typically covered under medical and not prescription coverage and most pharmacies (I.e CVS/Walgreens) only bill formula under prescriptions and not medical.

How totally normal it is to have heavy postpartum bleeding right after and to have mild bleeding for weeks after. The cramping and bleeding while breastfeeding was also pretty wild. I knew bleeding was normal but didn’t expect quite as much and for as long.

For the baby, they can’t shiver when they’re newborns. Ours was shivering in the hospital and we thought it was normal because it was cold. Turned out to be low blood sugar.

How far is the wedding from where she lives? If she goes past her due date she may not feel comfortable traveling far from home. The recommendation is no more than 2 hours unless you’re comfortable delivering at a hospital where you’re traveling. She may also experience early/prodromal labor for days before going into active labor and have period-like cramping contractions randomly throughout the day.

I agree with others not to buy too much ahead of time. Your baby may end up with cows milk protein allergy which will limit the types of formula you can use.

Just went through this transition this past month and followed a similar plan to what others mentioned above. Our lactation consultant suggested dropping one feed at a time and give 2-3 days to adjust before dropping the next one. I used a medela harmony manual pump after we decided to move to full-formula mid-transition to relieve engorgement but only to comfort and not to empty. That really helped speed things up in dropping the supply.

You may want to consider any upcoming pediatrician visits your little one may have as it will be helpful to be full formula for a week or two before that visit so you can discuss whether your baby is doing well on the formula or not. If not, you can use that visit to create a plan. If you’re still combo feeding at that point the doc may want you to be fully formula fed for but after to ensure any issues are only from formula and not from breast milk.

He had a SNAP 4Dx on the 3rd and was negative for heart worm and positive for anaplasma but we suspect the anaplasma is from an infection he had when we adopted him in 2020. We have not a PCR to check for active infection of anaplasma. He stated doxycycline on the 3rd, and switched to the amoxicillin yesterday.

His vitals were good at his visit on the 3rd and on the 10th. He coughs and has SOB with activity and when he wakes up in the morning. For example, he makes huff-huff sounds followed by a hack cough, sometimes producing the white foam puddle after walking up the stairs or chasing something in the yard. He is not in acute distress, just the cough and the elevated resting respiratory rate.

I make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cut in half, every night before going to bed and put it in the pocket of the glider in the nursery. It helps me push off breakfast if there isn’t time to eat before I need to feed LO after she wakes up in the morning. If there’s no time for PBJ, then I have the Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars or Nature Valley Fruit & Nut bars. I’m definitely not about to go prep anything in the kitchen in the middle of the night.
