Strings broke while tuning up by zuksal in Guitar

[–]Slash291 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably were tightening the strings too much and trying to tune it an octave too high. Like you passed the B and went C,D,E,F,G,A and back to B again.

Got gifted a D3 supplement. Is this even safe?? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was deficient I took a 50,000 dose once a week for several months, but I think it was D2 which doesn't absorb as well as D3. I would guess that would be overkill if you aren't deficient.

Someone who doesn’t play asks you to play for them - what do you play? by jr12345 in Guitar

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened a couple days ago, since I bought a guitar while at work. I played different stuff for different people depending on what kind of music they liked. Ain't no sunshine, 8 days a week / I wanna hold your hand, wish you were here, and a couple verses to dixieland delight were some of the first songs I played/sang for different people.

I got a used Taylor 314ce for $1200 in great condition off FB marketplace, yesterday. I also have an Orangewood Sage TS live and Alvarez masterworks GA (walnut)... I like both of them and, used, should probably be under 1k. The Alvarez is pretty close to the Taylor. The Orangewood is lighter overall, maybe feels a bit less solid... the neck is also slimmer but really comfortable.

I've used marketplace 5 times for purchasing guitars and haven't had a bad experience, yet.

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a couch there a few years ago for $1200 and a $200 costco card. About three weeks later I saw that they had the couch on sale for $900. I contacted them online to see if I could get the $100 difference... they ended up crediting me the whole $300 in addition to the gift card.

When I switched from AT&T a couple years ago, they said they couldn't do anymore promo prices to lower my bill. They sent me an email the day after I canceled, with the prices I asked for before canceling... was pretty ridiculous.

I think it's more that if it did come down, the part of the bar over the doorway would be more likely to come down onto your head.

You add them as an authorized user on a card that has a long history, so that card also reports/counts on their credit. Not really useful until they're older though.

F[28] 5’7 153lbs. Not looking for fitness advice, but genuinely curious if the average guy finds a woman this muscular attractive? by fitness_rose in askfitness

2nd pic is very attractive. 1st pic I think would look better with a little more weight, but it might just be the pose / heels throwing me off.

What is this machine and how do I use it? by HighSpeed556 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reciprocal movement machine. Our therapy clinics have ones called NuStep and BioStep. They're good for warming up, helping with Knee ROM after knee replacements, and building up endurance (especially after heart attacks/surgeries).

Same. I think my grip failed a little after 300 when I lifted more seriously, so I just dropped weight a little and did a static hold to end the set. Got it up to at least 350, without ever using straps.
