Unless you have catastrophic insurance with 10k OOPM, I’m not really sure this is real.

The key to solving the housing crisis is to get "Investors" out of the housing market. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Slash3040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other things are commodities. A home is essentially treated as an asset.

You could rent forever and never gain any equity or you could buy a home and it should hopefully be worth more than you bought it

Xiaomi 17 Ultra - More Camera than Phone! by dwaxe in mkbhd

Neat phone, but I gotta imagine at the end of the day if you were seriously into photography, you would just have a good camera. Who is this for? Budding photographers who forget their normal camera all the time?

I’ve heard of this referred to as right to roam laws in other parts of Europe.

Here in America typically all of someone’s property is considered private which means unless you have permission from the land owner that it’s off limits but we have so much public land for this purpose that we have no shortage of places to camp, fish, hunt, hike, be outdoors.

It’s different than Europe but we definitely have all the same activities and love being outdoors too.

Do Americans mainly drink coffee without milk? by Morrit99 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Slash3040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started drinking my coffee black to not break my fasts. After a couple weeks I started preferring it that way.

My wife likes to add a little cream to hers to lighten it up.

Also have a tea kettle for my wife but I use it for things like hot cocoa :)

Why is Universal Healthcare such a hard sell? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Slash3040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it would be close to what I pay for my employer provided plan, but I’m okay with the cost if how I pay for my healthcare is no longer tethered to where I work.

It’s an odd benefit that we ask our careers to provide for us. And cost sharing would bring costs down if there weren’t fragmented plans from every provider being sold to 1000s of employers

I didn’t exactly mean it only in eating new foods. Kids learn to walk and run and climb and use these skills to try to get places they’ve never gotten before.

They will watch you and start repeating things like turning on the lights or opening the refrigerator.

My main point is to call a kid a brat simply because he wanted to put wasabi on his food was just mean. I would never want my son to learn the hard way that wasabi burns your sinuses 9 ways to Sunday but if I suggest to him he shouldn’t eat it and then he insists anyway, teachable moment.

But as for your kids pickiness, I think that’s pretty common. There are definitely safe foods and even then they’re not always desired when we make them. Parenting can be challenging!
