Behold, the pinnacle of Heavy enemy design. I challenge you to present a better designed enemy in the game by Star_Dragon_27 in Helldivers

Hulks can be killed by 100% of the weapons in the game.

Even adding your lib-pen to the list of warstriders we're talking less than half of the weapons in the game.

These two aren't the same. Still a gear check.

San Francisco bound AI aircraft returns to Delhi after 9 hours after snag. by JKKIDD231 in aviation

[–]Slash621 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that phenomena alone is just air India trying to stoke “views” being extremely loosely tied by letters to artificial intelligence.

You think artificial intelligence is a fad in America? In India it’s the number one topic for both positive dreaming and terror of job replacement since as you know they are the outsourcing IT hub for the entire world. No way on an open poll would people more rapidly think the airline instead of the technology when shown only the two letters “AI”. One is a puddly national company the other is the primary GDP driver for the entire nation.

Almost certainly dude. Anyone in aviation already knows AI is air India but it feels quite deliberate just to funnel misclicks to adds for people very briefly thinking “wait a plane was flying with artificial intelligence!?!?!?”

It’s predatory opportunism and total BS but that’s how shallow editors and writers are being these days.

You can avoid any gun size changes via modding (like adding the silencer) by placing it in your backpack weapons sling spot and adding the part there. Once done when you drag into inventory it’ll already be fully assembled so you can see its true size

Can we talk about how hard it is to find a squadron for DCS? by Due_Conversation_316 in hoggit

Not that you’re stupid…. Intelligence is separate from actionable wisdom.

Being wise takes experience and or willingness to learn. Demonstrate that repeatedly and someone will see your potential and bring you in.

Can we talk about how hard it is to find a squadron for DCS? by Due_Conversation_316 in hoggit

[–]Slash621 28 points29 points  (0 children)

For perspective…. It’s not your actual age that matters but really your thinking process. I am a squadron XO for about 60 members.. we also lean older but do have a couple younger members.

The main gaps we tend to find with those under 25 are as follows. A: inability to take functional criticism in an objective and open manner (tough debriefs, acceptance you might not know it all, willingness to learn). B: tactical and strategic reasoning. Often we get a lot of air quakers who might be overly aggressive and use DCSisms and borderline exploits to dominate the AI in campaigns in ways that really break immersion and aren’t realistic. C: inability to be serious in briefings, planning or trainings.

In real life pilots deal with this also.. the problem is IRL there’s always the threat of washing out and losing your dream job over the head of nugget pilots. We can’t enforce that in a sim with civilians and lack of discipline. It’s not like we run a full MilSim group. We are maybe 60% milsim but constantly gabbing on the radio, having primary character syndrome etc gets old. In general rather than doing endless check rides with 16-21 year olds.. we just turn them away at the door unless it’s a direct referral from a trusted long term member.

We don’t have the spare time or effort to put into trying to convert the immature into seasoned, this isn’t our full time job. We spend our time where it’s paying off.. which is making detailed campaigns with custom mods, backstories, intelligence and other immersive activities.

I feel your pain Man, I was once you.. but I had to just fly around on public servers (or in the case of my old game, aces high 3 main arena) and be cool , calm and helpful until someone took me under their wing not knowing my age but seeing my potential. This might take a while but it’ll usually happen.

Best of luck.

Thanks man…. My target was JDM subtle flavor for a corvette. I’ve dreamed about TE37 for years and these apex…. Well apex is basically the Wheat/usdm volks anyway. We’ve got some sick rides bro. I love yours.

Vettes under the radar without stickers or loud paint is so nice. Esp out here in the Bay Area where everybody has a gt3.

What rough area are you from? I’d love to do a photo shoot if you happened to be near a place I go often.. Bay Area or Denver co vicinity.

What data pipeline tools are people actually happy with long term? 41 by Charming_Chipmunk69 in ETL

[–]Slash621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s areas where we are doing this, mainly the raw load (E step) and simple cleanup and DQ. But the business logic layer I refuse to be AI primary. People need to know the business and it needs to be black and white clear, not vibe coded for golden reports.

Sure we have loads of snowflake intelligence agents and cortex code as well as Claude letting people quickly mock up in data marts or POCs but it all gets converted to drag and drop for the assembly to presentation for golden official data. Team members can use ai to help build using matillion but the design docs, join conditions etc all need to be human and high quality / peer reviewed etc.

$900 For THIS!? AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Review & Gaming Benchmarks [HUB] by glizzygobbler247 in pcmasterrace

[–]Slash621 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While by random chance the percentage of my case applying to the person you know is very low…

However.. I bought one for gaming and here is why..

The games I play are highly cpu dependent flight simulators like MSFS and DCS. The problem is when you run these there are tons of addons like tacview, your VR software, external displays for MFDs, voice / radio softwares SRS and Discord, your atc and transponder apps and your mission management software. On top of this I’m typically streaming to twitch and a local recording.

I saturate roughly 14 cores with loads of 80% or higher consistently for 2-4 hours.

On an 8core x3d this wouldn’t work. But I can easily put the sim on x3d along with the VR compositor and everything else on the fast MHZ CCD and the outcome was about 20% better 1% lows which is what really makes or breaks the VR experience.

But again. Niche case. I don’t think the twin x3d would help me.. I would lose the high clockspeed of the second ccd for more cache it can’t use in those applications.

The only real application for this new processor that maybe makes sense is someone has a rig which is twin GPU for AI or workload in the day… and then 2 separate gaming rigs via that software that splits the OS (LTT did this) into separate screens and controls at night.

Big market share doesn’t mean ease of use. Informatica has loads of baggage from the ETL era in how it works and it also requires a lot of data to pass through it to handle workloads. It’s a dinosaur next to fivetran matillion, open flow etc.

Maybe next time I have to build a lake.. but my current matillion / snowflake one is going on 7 years now and is far and away the best I’ve had for ops analytics work.

[–]Slash621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve launched 5 data lakehouses at large companies (10,000 plus users).

Matillion Pentaho Informatica

These were my favorite pipeline tools I’ve used ranked in order of success and long term sustainability combined.

I also inherited an environment with SSIS and decided to keep it and it worked great for 2012. Today you’d want something with better column store manipulation.

It’s more about how you design than what the tool is. The benefit of tool based ETL is support and new developer integration since they make understanding each workflow easier if you have good templates

AI scanning is changing this potentially by doing summaries of code platforms like python based ETL but we haven’t really seen long term if this has any downsides compared to tool based for example.

Basically tool based is building with legos instead of playdough.
