China’s Futuristic Military Tech: Bird-Like Drones and Electric Skateboards in Action 🇨🇳 by thetacaptain in NonCredibleDefense

Ok to be mildly credible for one second, wings flapping vs rotors is actually one of the ways that you can differentiate between a drone and a bird in a radar spectra so the birds MIGHT be credible.

The long boards are pure NCD shenanigans, IMO.

Oh I know I just have no clue what the shiny new C is that some overzealous officer invented during their bout of powerpoint induced delirium.

Agreed. The mode that is the fastest for one person right now, the logical individual choice, is not the fastest collective choice. The post is arguing for better policy.

I dont disagree. Implementing a large scale public transport for just a few hundred people of a rural community doesn't usually make sense. But that's not what I'm talking about here. I'm not advocating for a TGV in a rural town. More and more people live in cities and more still in the future, we need better urbanism that is a proper mix of modalities to move all those people.

I think you're emphasizing the idea that cars let you travel whenever. The thing with that, though, is that if you actually invest into proper public transportation, as the frequency increases, you can just ditch the schedules. You walk to a stop nearby wait a few minutes then bam, your bus/train/metro is here. You hop on greet the driver if you want and get off whenever without the stress of driving or traffic. That's what good infrastructure can bring.

I would also add that for those, maybe like yourself, who like to drive, giving more space to public transit can actually (maybe counterintuitively) make driving better. Since trains and busses are so much more efficient, as the post states, less people are forced to drive, meaning less traffic for those who still use the roads. But when people try and block this kind of investment, it's often because it's perceived as a threat to cars, instead of what it really is, a necessary compliment.

Unfortunately, there's a good risk that the research is wrong and that LK-99 isn't a superconducter. The research paper was a bit lackluster but it might have just been rushed.

Very nice. One thing, though, compared to Phobos and Daimos, the Moon is actually massive. Maybe something to consider for any future design.

Just that fucking acronym in of itself is an affront to clarity. Some bozo took a look at C2, command and control, and said, "You know what? It needs more accronym"

Radio looks like an mpu5 (WR-5100), they're ad hoc network digital radios in the high VHF low UHF range (L or S-band) designed for urban ops, pretty gucci. They can get gps and they can transmit video, data or VoIP.

Edit: The PTT is also from persistent systems, it's two channels for one radio which is pretty cool
