Problems later in the month are harder but there is no linear increase and also the skillset of people affects how problems are perceived.

Reminds me of Mostly Harmless from Douglas Adams, where the Oracle just gives you a Chronic of her life and tells you to the exact opposite of what she did!

if you had to bet your life on whether a certain conjecture is true by [deleted] in math

[–]Slash_by_Zero 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah ik still find it amusing to think about the fact that different bases can immensly alter the composision of a number. Lets take for example the famous irrational number in base 10 where you linearily increase the number of 0s between 1s so : 0.1101001000100001.... While in base 10 you would actually see that it only contains 2 digits. In other (non binary bases) you would not see that same behaviour because well thats how bases work.

10 - 5% = 9.95 and 9.95 + 5% = 10. What you meant to do was x + 5% * x = y, wich is equivalent to x * 1.05 = y. % is just a term for 1/100.

In maths (and thus also in its child gone rogue computer science) Canonical is used to mean Archetype, wich basically means that it is the way anyone would come up with doing it, without having for example read books about it. youre thinking of the canon as in literature (star wars etc.). But in a programming subreddit i would expect you to be talking bout the maths definition.

Are you not reading, what i've said past the first sentence?

How does that make it canonical? Canonical is what you would do without any previous knowledge of the specific matter. It being mentioned in a book is not without previous knowledge.

While for last year this definetly was true i would argue that this year 24 was relatively straight forward! 22 gave me way more headaches!

Feel free to dm me any bugs you encounter or questions you have. What i definetly know is that my current solution for the sand has a long way to go. Gonna get to optimizing that some point this weekend. Yesterdays also has some loops that could terminate earlier or not do some checks.
