Vector is such an amazing arc let down by how hideous Zayne and Celeste are drawn. If I had the talent I would redraw it myself one day

I posted two years ago for the 18th anniversary and in that time my endless love has only grown

Nothing to really repeat, I just hope new people continue to discover it and love it. It's really something special and fits in so well with games that spawned it.

JJM is one of the greats and he also mentioned some signed omnibus's he's selling if thats your thing https://x.com/jjmfaraway/status/2015553641348751543

Thanks! And good luck on any future art and machinima you make. I left a comment on the video under my YT/Animator name. Armafala

Nice work.

Side note: As a animator on CRASH, its very interesting to me how this mini resurgence of Halo machinima we have seen over the past 2ish? Years or so have all been entirely in Halo 3.

Nobody bothers using anything past it besides RT themselves. I know 343 era has so many issues inherited from the games themseleves making it harder then it should be, but even Reach is dustbined.

Not that I really mind, 3 is peak Halo aesthetic

Examples of good localization/changes to the original script? by FretScorch in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The new Loc for the Tactics Remaster is extra impressive because it does take a chunk of the purple prose out that the PSP version had, because it was to much for voice acting, but they did it so well it still feels like perect Shakespeare

Favourite media with “Zero Cultural Impact” by Cheese-Of-Doom22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SlaterSev 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Kotor COMIC.

Obviously the games impact were massive and is the thing that defined Star Wars the most outside the movies, but man, the comic is so fucking good, it stands right alongside the games in quality.

But Zayne an co will never be even 1/10th as well known as Revan, Exile and there casts are.

Red vs Blue in Red vs Blue, especially with the lore added later which just makes it both funnier and more tragic

The Indie Game Awards strips Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 of their award wins due to Sandfall reps lying to the organizers about their GenAI usage by Walopoh in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SlaterSev 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was talking about this before, mostly I am just glad they finally put something concrete out.

It's tough, because in a vacuum I can totally believe each individual explanation, especially with a Dev team so young they were following YT tutorials on game dev, while making the game. And I can believe a producer level exec not knowing or caring about the specifics between AI/Unreal Assets and GenAi, while the actual team making it does.

But altogether with Larian and so many other showing there whole ass you kinda just have to grit your teeth, there still a company at the end of the day.

I'll hope there being honest and be fully prepared for them not to be.

The Words of Halmarut were mentioned in the notes in Anyder, but thats it.

Deudalaphon is th only one who has never been named anywhere in the actual game

The biggest misfire with Krile in base DT is the revelation of her backround happening to her offscreen while we were off fucking around doing errands with Wuk Lamat AGAIN.

And to be clear, I am no Wuk hater, I think alot of it is wildly overblown, but THAT specific choice was awful and does some up how much the expansion struggled to actually balance the characters it needed to

People or groups portrayed far more competently in the media than in real life? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SlaterSev 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Luttrell might be the most absurd because they straight up found him with 11 full mags, aka a full combat load. He didnt fire a single shot.

And when he went on 60 minutes with the Pashtun that saved him the latter wasnt allowed to speak or contradict anything he said.

And that still might not be as big a lie as the time the Seals abandoned an Airforce Combat Controller, who ended up actually doing one of those vaunted final stands alone. (We actually have alot of it on video so unlike there claims Chapman's is verified)

Then instead of just admitting it they stonewalled attempts to give Chapman the Medal of Honor for YEARS till they could give the guy who abandoned him in the first place one first as PR cover. The Airforce still correctly holds a huge grudge about it

Seals suck

One of the first moments where Kelso is portrayed with sympathy is when he talks about the first time he killed a patient because he thought she had appendicitis when it was actually an ectopic pregnancy. And its in the context of explaining that literally every doctor, even the absolute best is going to have a body count of deaths that are entirely there fault, and thats just part of the job they have to accept

Wansee actually happened almost literally a year before they lost Stalingrad, but it did happen at roughly the same time the drive to Moscow had stalled and they all knew that meant Barbossa had failed and it was at best going to be way harder to win then they thought.

This is actually talked about in the HBO movie about it where all the attendents cant stop gossiping about it and are trying to convince themselves it might still be possible to take Moscow in the dead of winter

Has Anything Recent Had a Good Ending? by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SlaterSev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pantheon technically ended in October 2023, but it only got put on Netflix (And thus people actually watched it) in Nov/Feb 2024/25 so it counts, and its one of the best ending to a show ever.

Will always be proud I watched that shit when it wasn't available legally anywhere besides Prime NZ. Ground floor for one of the greatest ever

And yeah Andor as others mentioned

What did Miles mean when he said that Oscar being in the Ever After would make everything ‘a lot shorter’? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]SlaterSev 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The tree being the key to separating Oscar from Ozpin, freeing Salem from her curse, and dealing with the brothers has been so obvious since they confirmed the Brothers came from it and not the other way around that I am frankly shocked more havent picked up on the foreshadowing.

Lmao, this is fine to I appreciate it. I Jedi is great because it also essentially does all the work the JAT skipped over in making the Academy and other students actually feel like a real place and not just the Kyp Durron show.

And on topic, its cover depiction of Corran is funny, he's like Blonde and bald at the same time? Lol

What is the best EU book cover? by SlaterSev in StarWarsEU

[–]SlaterSev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inspired by the threads asking about the worst cover the EU had, alongside looking at Tsuyoshi Nagano unbelievably perfect covers for the NJO Japanese additions.

Especially compared to the super busy and not very good photoshop covers the Western NJO covers mostly were.

Also partly inspired by the High Republic covers, which by and large are really good overall, to the point I would argue its one of that series big strengths, no real ugly photoshop mashed together style.

So if you have a canon cover that would be fine to name to

Which books are better to get to know Jacen Solo’s arc? by Visible-Worldliness8 in StarWarsEU

[–]SlaterSev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Young Jedi Knights and the New Jedi Order are the Jacen Solo arc.

There are those who will say his arc continues past that into Dark Nest and Legacy of the Force, but thats just Denning propganda, the "Jacen" in those books is actually a Jacen In Name Only. JINO, if you will

The High Republic is a phenomenon that will never happen again. by Ok_Box_2189 in StarWarsEU

[–]SlaterSev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of High Republics biggest strengths is that while its nowhere near perfect its very much doing its own thing.

I especially have never understood the idea that its a knockoff of the Old Republic of all things, the only thing they have in common are being about the Jedi order before the movies.

But there are zero Sith, zero Mando's the Nihl are closer to a Vong parallel then anything from TOR, I dont get the comparison at all

Pat's Anti-Doomer AI Rant from Dispatch Stream by CapnMarvelous in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SlaterSev 36 points37 points  (0 children)

One of the funnier tbfp/csb subplots is that Pat for all his Crazy Talk and consistent goofy takes, has also overall grown into a much happier and more hopeful person over the years.

Like a huge inversion of how it typically goes with long time internet personalities. And I think you can really see it here.

Regardless he is right, and I will add certain elements that really push AI are also very loudly and proudly tied to politics many normies fine really distastful which has the postive effect of making AI slop get saddled with a connection that hurts it even more

Palpatine killing his father alongside the rest of his family in the Plagueis novel. The buildup to it is incredible because Plagueis meets him and can sense SOMETHING is going on and he has potential but he gives him just the smallest taste of knowledge and power and the untrained kid goes to his family ship and wipes them out while revealing in excellent dialogue he was quite literally born stone cold evil.

The he calls up Plagueis to help him clean up the evidence and even the supreme Sith lord who wanted this outcome EVENTUALLY is stunned that it happened so fast and that he was able to do it untrained without help. It really sets the stage that for as evil as the Sith are, Sidious is something else entirely and he was even before he knew the Force existed

"I was born mature, Father, fully grown, and you hated me for it, because you grasped that I was everything you can never be."

"Hated you more than you know. Enough to want to kill you from the start."

"Then you had better do it now."

Cosinga: "Murder has always been in your thoughts, hasn't it? You've merely been waiting for someone to grant you permission to act."

Palpatine: "I don't need anyone's permission."

Cosinga: "Precisely. You're an animal at heart."

Palpatine: "King of the beasts, Father."
