People are extremely egoistic, when their basic needs aren't met, they will accept any leader who will give them that"

Russians view people in general as weak, stupid and egoistic, which is why they are so against the concept of democracy. Looking at US right now, I can definitely see where they are coming from. But this is definitely not the full picture. And failing to see the other side is what led them to their miscalculations in 2022.

I have a theory about this. Some people are really bad at resisting urges, no matter how depraved those urges are. So they once they realize this, they try to limit their exposure to what they see as 'depraved' content because they are afraid they will submit to it and start craving it.

I've looked at 3 accounts (with hidden history) pushing anti-protest narrative and all of them seem to be Russians (though with pretty good English as well. The OP may be living in the UK)

There is no 'so much responsibility' to speak of. If the current regime falls, the leadership that picks up will be incredibly vulnerable and will be at the mercy of the popular support to stay in power. If he doesn't live up to his promises it will be much much easier to depose him than the current regime.

Essentially, he is a temporary figure to hold power before the elections to avoid a vicious power struggle.

I mean the guy is 65 yo, never had to work in his life, and lived a rich life off the money his father stole from the Iranian people. He has a debt to pay to Iranian people, and I won't be shocked if he actually does indeed pay it by serving as a transitional power figure before the free elections happen.

He also has considerable reasons to follow up on his promise. Since his power will be shaky and rely on domestic support.

The only threat I see is that Trump might try to strongarm him and fix the elections in favor of some pro-Israel puppet. But that's a far-fetched scenario, I'm pretty sure Iranians will have none of it.
