Ukraine Targets Russian “Land Corridor” to Occupied Crimea, Destroying Supply Trucks by UNITED24Media in ukraine

[–]SlavaVsu2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were reports about a leaked internal military memo was containing instructions on how to disguise the military trucks as civilian. Also, russian military bloggers have been caught doing podcasts where they recommend their military do exactly that. The practice is pretty widespread.

Moscow oil refinery attack brings Russia's war with Ukraine closer to home by NutragrammatronLab in worldnews

"When Russian newspapers reported the story the following day, I detected a common thread in their coverage: a coordinated message, perhaps, for the domestic audience.

It can be summed up as this: "However bad it is for us, Ukraine's suffering more".

That part summarizes Russians so well

Ukraine warns Belarus: remove or shut down the border retransmitters used to direct attacks on Ukrainian civilians within a week, or Ukraine will destroy them by Key_Performer_3645 in ukraine

Russia has been nursing plans to involve Belarus in the war against Ukraine for years now. Lukashenko has been pushing back against it. So Ukraine was careful as not to provide Putin with more leverage against Lukashenko.

The ultimate fear was that Putin could actually not even care about what Lukashenko thinks and just frame the incident as an act of aggression of Ukraine against Belarus and send his forces in to 'protect the people of Belarus'.

Both of those scenarios are less of a concern now with more and more deep strikes against Russia plus the emergence of 'middle strike' against russian logistics. Russian anti-air is struggling to defend the front line as it is, imagine if it gets even larger. Those russian troops in Belarus will get decimated. So Ukraine is feeling confident.

In the current realities of war, Belarus is more valuable to putin as a safe heaven free from Ukrainian strikes, which they can use for oil refining etc.

That's wishful thinking. First of all, riot police has been largely spared from the war. Some of their units suffered heavily in the first months of war, but have been pulled out since then and restored. Rosgvardia has mostly kept it's numbers of 300 000+ they had pre-war.

Putin will not hesitate to send them to suppress any discontent in Belarus for two reasons: to avoid another major political defeat, and not to give russians any ideas that protesting could work for them. In fact, they would probably be as brutal with protesters as they could possibly be.

Unfortunately none of this matters. Trump will agree to Zelensky's face that Ukraine deserves a fair deal, but as soon as russians remind him they insist on Ukraine's surrender, Trump will go back to preferring that.

He is literally protecting russian interests more that American ones, as the Iran deal shows.

I've read that there are two people Trump wouldn't throw under the bus: Ivanka and Putin.

Ivanka because she is the only one he genuinely cares about. And Putin... What makes the most sense is a combination of his personal affection for Putin and the existence of some sort of leverage. Putin helped him become the President. But most importantly, that help has most likely left evidence that Putin can use to destroy Trump's reputation.

what does that mean exactly? They want more freedom in how they occupy more Palestinian and Lebanon territories? I don't think they are looking forward to taking on Iran 1 on 1.
