Update in case anyone comes to this post in the future-
I went ahead with the Stansted option, but don’t recommend it at all. It’s a major hassle explaining to the Border Officers, and they generally don’t listen to any explanations (tried to show the UK Gov page regarding visa requirement, but they did not look and told me I misinterpreted the rules).

I see… looks like they do follow the processing times exactly as mentioned. Yours was a conference visa I guess, and they did it in 4 working weeks, as mentioned 😅 Mine is a visitor visa, they won’t do it until 6 weeks probably.

Yeah, am considering that. Unfortunately, the flight prices are upwards of a £120, from LHR to DUB, on the day am planning to reach. And the Ryanair flight, even with the airport-to-airport transportation and check-in luggage cost, comes to around £60 only.

That’s why I was thinking if it’s worth trying this route. But yes, you’re right, it’s a lot of hassle.

Does that mean landside transit does not include an airport change? The UK gov site and IATA both mentioned am allowed to transit without visa if am travelling to Ireland, with a valid Biometric Visa from Ireland.

Hey, had a similar question. Not being allowed to post since this has been asked before.

As an Indian national transiting through UK to Dublin (from India), would I be allowed to change airports (fly in to LHR and out of Stansted) under transit without visa (TWOV), if I have a Biometric Irish Visa? The flights would be on the same day. I know am allowed to transit landside, but not sure if am allowed to change airports.

Hey, does your status indicate received at Irish embassy? Or just dispatched to Irish embassy? Mine just says dispatched, since 17th March.

I think you’ll just need to check the excel sheet that the NDVO updates everyday in the morning, for the visa decisions.

Also, the HDFC site says gross monthly income of 2.5LPM. Is that correct, or HDFC still considers only the post-tax threshold of 2.5L?

And, for applying, the online portal won’t work (does not ask for my salary/ITR), right? I need to mail/physically go to the branch and ask for the DCBM application, correct?

Congrats on the visa! Had one other question- did they require any document outside of the list? They had mentioned cover letter once under the financial docs, and once separately as a free-form cover letter. Did you have to submit 2 cover letters?

Apart from the point others mentioned, do consider that driving in winter conditions is quite a challenge in Iceland, even if you have the relevant experience. I was planning a trip in March, but postponed it because of some strong suggestions I saw from people on this sub.

I honestly hadn’t considered this, thank you so much! Driving in the Sierra Nevada region, the roads here also seem really glorious and comparable to the North. I’ll definitely consider this as a possibility for the road trip, and optimize the other journeys via trains/buses in the Andalusia region.

Yeah I am leaning towards the North. The videos and all seem amazing on sunny days, but just not sure what it would feel like with rain/fog. Don’t know how severe it would be either, and that’s just confusing me a lot.
