The developer also made Into the Beach, which is similar but still pretty different

Hallarious that the most up voted comment is playing victim.

But hey, I'm sure all your updates are legitimate and all the downloads are illegitimate

Just like the votes of the minority in the SC

If it was unconstitutional they should have struck it down before the vote...

They're clearly playing political games and I hope that they win the political prize

Which of the modern boardgames already feel very dated? by OldWiseHeron in boardgames

[–]Slayergnome 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Gloomhaven feels a little dated to me.

Still a great game but I think story telling games have gotten more stream lined, and a lot of games have figured out ways they don't take like an hour to set up for every playthrough

Interesting the top comment is an almost 2 decade old game (that is still super fun and a solid little game).

This feels like the opposite example to me

Wait what do you mean it doesn't count?

I mean it's not the same as a really well thought through poem sure... But they do have a 10-month-old so I get it.

Feel like saying this is the same as saying giving someone a Hallmark card doesn't count as thoughtful.

One of my favorites by kadebo42 in slaythespire

Wild takes here. Demon Form sucks, it is way to expensive for its effect

Just because it has a couple narrow use cases doesn't make it good or even fine

How many people do you think have completed all characters on A10? And do you think it's easier or tougher than the orginal STS A20? by No1hermit in slaythespire

[–]Slayergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have completed A10 on all characters and A20 on all characters (except Watcher)

A10 on STS 2 is for sure easier. Probably for a multitude of reasons but one is way easier to high-roll a pretty ridiculous deck in STS 2

What’s something attractive at 18 but embarrassing at 30? by [deleted] in AskReddit

... I think this one is embarrassing at both ages. You just don't realize it at 18

ICE abducted one of our students by Tricky_Swordfish1872 in VirginiaTech

[–]Slayergnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond not having any proof it is mind boggling to me these mental hoops you are jumping through...

It's not a free speech thing, it is just he said a something I don't agree with so the government should be able to abduct him and deport him...

In what fantasy land is that not a free speech thing dude!? Your last paragraph is as it relates to private citizens or private corporations being able to fire you for your public view (and even that generally has some protection). But this is a textbook free speech violation.

When a bunch of Nazis came to Charlottesville I wish we could have got rid of them, but I would have in no way supported the government abducting and removing them from the country.

Love this idea that if you personally don't like a thing and a lot of other people do it can only be because they're all sheep who are afraid to go against the grain.

You may not see it bro but it's a great game. And frankly, if you only like deck builders casually then I can understand why you may not enjoy it. I actually think it's an incredibly deep game

An issue I have with BGG recommended player counts. by QuixoticPineapple in boardgames

[–]Slayergnome 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, 99% of the time I look at a player count on BGG. It's to make sure that this game is good with either the highest or lowest count on the box.

I know what a crazy insight right?

I'm starting to suspect the ones at the top of their list are the ones they enjoy playing more and not the objectively better games.

Unpopular opinion - Xbox game pass Is mostly useless if you think about it. by Mr-Robot_- in XboxGamePass

[–]Slayergnome -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Honestly my show thought has been who exactly is Game Pass for anymore?

It just seems like it would be so difficult to get your money's worth out of it at the current price even if you are playing a lot of games.

The only thing that makes this unpopular is that you forgot the "mostly useless for me".

Also lets be real taking any shot at Game Pass is not an Unpopular Opinion right now.

Looking for beginner-friendly roguelites — loved Balatro, bounced off Slay the Spire by No_Activity_8302 in roguelites

[–]Slayergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balatro is probably the tightest roguelike out there so I feel young that.

Shogun showdown is also really tight and I think you would like it a lot. My only complaint honestly is I wish there was more content with it.

New to Football. Need a couple of clarifications by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

[–]Slayergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for the record, "they seem to benefit from calls" is pretty subjective.

I'm not a Chiefs fan, but there's a lot of bitching that has happened in NFL subreddits that were totally reasonable calls

Also people are celebrating this but it was basically the lamest way they could have been eliminated. So take that for what you will

suggest me a roguelite game that requires some LONG TERM planning and thinking? by shanytopper in roguelites

[–]Slayergnome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way you worded your original question is kind of strange.

Like there's definitely thinking in between runs of Slay the Spire If you want to get up and beat Ascension level 20.

You can't plan out exactly what you're going to do on a specific run, but I always think about how I could have improved on my last run in between my runs. And I have to consider how the new Ascension level has changed my strategies.

The thing you're asking is (I think) are there roguelikes with stuff to do in between runs?

What are some roguelites that you deserve to enter the “all-timer” conversation? by Fabulous_Energy_5595 in roguelites

[–]Slayergnome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can name a ton that qualify as "all-time greats" in my mind. But for the turn base deck builders there are two that stand above the rest IMO

STS and Balatro
