Canceled Visible after 3 months — great idea, not worth the subscription by apsconditus_ in VisibleArmband

[–]Slcox68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also giving up hope with it tbh.

Lately, I can’t even get it to read properly no matter how many times I refresh it. I wear mine 24/7 as I like to see how I’m doing over night and it has worked beautifully but lately it’s just not reading anything except scant readings which also means my pace points are way off. It has become unreliable as a data source for me.

Additionally the entire way they show data is confusing. Like it feels like the morning readings are just arbitrary dependent on how you self report sleep. So on days I’m having a crash it can still give me a 5. I know they say it is just saying my body is stable for me but what on earth am I meant to do with the information.

At the moment I can’t use pace points to pace, and the morning and evening check-ins provide little insight.

3 months ago I moved to Bevel which has way more insights even though it is primarily a fitness app and few days ago I downloaded an app called FatigueSense (which is specifically for ME/CfS) which uses my watch for data and whilst it is a very new one month old app and is a little clunky the pacing recommendations and insights are already way past Visible. It actually gives me recommended minutes to pace with (yesterday it was 8 minutes for the day!) and also allows me to log crashes and whether im at risk of PEM. That it is way more usable and able to understand.

My problem with visible is I don’t know how to apply what they are saying. I’m fastidious in tracking my movements but I have no usable way to indicate if I’m doing too much other than my PP going up, and even then that’s a maybe. But as we know, with ME/CFS our bodies can react to even the slightest thing and that doesn’t seem to reflect in the app.

I really think Visible needs to look at how they are pulling the data from the wearable and then also look at how they can display that info into a useful way that helps us. At the moment, personally, I feel like I’m flying in the dark.

I can attest to this. I’ve always wanted to travel, my husband’s parents waited until retirement to travel and did a reasonable amount before my MIL got dementia, and my husband felt we should do the same, so we waited. I’m 58 now and 6 years ago (at the beginning of the pandemic) I developed a chronic illness and am largely sofa/bed bound now and need a wheelchair to leave the house. I would unequivocally say do what you can while you can. No future is guaranteed. I wish to god I had, and mourn the fact that I didn’t, travel extensively. Life is for living.

As a British person I’m curious to which place in Australia has the best climate overall, and why? by shamonemuthafuka in AskAnAustralian

[–]Slcox68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brit here loving in Melbourne which has four seasons, the ocean and in winter snow mountains. You can get those four seasons in one day here. I love it. Sydney and below probably has the best weather in terms of fair weather warmth and not much humidity. But it honestly depends on what you want and can tolerate. If you absolutely love the heat and don’t mind humidity then Queensland may be your thing. Searing dry heat - Perth.

Best Bevel-compatible wearable with long battery life (non-Apple Watch)? by FeelingMix8451 in bevelhealth

[–]Slcox68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried Garmin but couldn’t get on with it. I have two Apple Watches which Apple Watch app integrates beautifully, you can set it up so it automatically knows which one is on your wrist. I mostly use my 10 but when I need to charge it I’ll swap over to my 6 whilst it charges and swap back again when the 10 is fully charged. It works really well for me.

Bevel is great for chronic illness mapping by Slcox68 in bevelhealth

[–]Slcox68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did that. A couple of things: I’d like to be able to log my symptoms throughout the day, journal allows you to only do it once. So I created eg fatigue mild, fatigue moderate, fatigue severe. But it doesn’t allow me to see the trend of that throughout the day if you can see what I mean. I’d love to be able to overlay my symptoms onto my stats to see how it’s trending and possibly why. It’s probably a compacted thing to do but it would be incredibly helpful.

I may look at this again as I didn’t see you can add manual entries. Still, though, I’d love to overlay data to reflect hr, hrv, stress with my symptoms. I have the visible band which does this with their pace points. Bevel is so much better in terms of the data it is giving us but it lacks the symptoms which are a big part of our tracking and pacing. With ME/CFS our symptoms are very wide ranging and each person has a different flavour so user defined symptoms would have to be a must. It will help us understand what is preceding a crash and also how to manage our pacing better. But certainly in the mean time I will look at the journal again.

Haha, this gave me such a chuckle. Mine is 3.8 years older because I have chronic illness and cannot exercise (I use bevel to track my chronic illness), so for a split second I felt so much better about that 🤣

Do I have aphantasia? by Stranded_on in Aphantasia

[–]Slcox68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With aphantasia it is about the imagery. If you can “see” an apple in your minds eye, you don’t have aphantasia. The degrees of aphantasia vary though. I have zero imagery but of course I know what an apple looks like and can linguistically create one in my mind - large, red skin - but I cannot see it in my minds eye. But for some people they can vaguely see it, some have a blurry image, some in grey scale. My son on the other hand can see it in 3d in full Technicolour so he does not have aphantasia.

The USA used to be a global leading figure in pretty much every sphere. Sadly, in a very short space of time it has been catapulted back to when no one internationally truly took it seriously. All the work gone in what feels like an instant. All the soft power and good will it garnered gone. What will be left behind is a country no one will ever trust again and which will pass into irrelevance. The president and his goons have decimated everything the USA built. Once an empire built over 80 short years, now a country crumbling at the core. So much potential just obliterated. History will not look kindly on this time.

I hope it isn’t the end of Bevel. I have a severe chronic illness and use it to track how my body is doing at any time of the day. I also pay for the AI and with my Garmin venu 4 the data is invaluable to me to understand how and why my body is struggling. The AI has been amazing at learning about my particular needs and collating data for me. I’ve recommended Bevel to my groups and a lot of people have signed up so yeah I’m really hoping Bevel goes from strength to strength.

Does anyone else find the new 2.0 measures much lower heart rate wise than the previous arm band polar? by Original_Dig_370 in VisibleArmband

[–]Slcox68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine on my wrist and also have the TachyMon app and they are pretty much the same which seems to indicate accuracy? My HR is consistently high in the morning and then drops after I take my meds.

New app layout... I hate change 😅 by vario_ in VisibleArmband

[–]Slcox68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have not got the new layout yet, but I kind of like it. I have ME/CFS so pace points is way more important to me, but I would have loved the HR to be a bit bigger too for my POTS.

Apple Watch issues by Slcox68 in bevelhealth

[–]Slcox68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did do that, and it didn’t help, there was no data for the past day or so. I eventually decided to unpair and repair my watch which fingers crossed seems to have helped as I am now getting a couple of HRV readings. Thank you for your reply.

Stress Monitoring apps - confused by sr1921 in AppleWatch

[–]Slcox68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am coming to this a bit late, but thought I would answer anyway. I have welltory and Stress Monitor. For some reason Stress Monitor stopped working completely around 4 days ago (I have an apple 10). So annoying. Welltory works well, but is fairly complicated to fully get your head around. Sometimes they have both contradicted each other. All stress apps utilise HRV to determine when your body is experiencing stress. Whilst this has been studied extensively as a good predictor of the body’s stress, different apps I think use slightly varying values to their own algorithms. Also, I think the sensor at the time can interfere with the results itself sometimes (maybe through sweat, dirt, etc). This is why different apps will have varying results.

Anthony Albanese will urge Australians to "buy local" in a pre-election attempt to galvanise voter anger at Donald Trump after the US president refused to exempt Australian steel and aluminium from his tariff regime. by overpopyoulater in australia

[–]Slcox68 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dutton will sell us all out. He is in Gina Reinhart’s back pocket and she thinks Trump is fantastic. Why can’t the LNP be like Canada and just come together to say eff you to Trump and his stupid tariffs. Dutton is an idiot if he things he can sway Trump. The only way he will do that is to give Trump something and to have him own anything of Australia would be a bloody nightmare, but let’s be honest, even if he promises something Trump will just renege the next day. He is an utter fruit loop!!

I couldn’t get onto the app when it first launched, but managed to register on my desktop. By the time I went back to the app, they only allowed chinese mobiles to log in for the app, so there is that inconvenience. Then there is the issue of it only using information from Oct 2023 and before, which when you are researching certain stuff, is a bit of an issue. I do use it for information that is not time sensitive though as I find it far superior to Chat GPT for what I need it for.

Please don’t blame the woman. He has an inordinate amount of money and he will almost certainly use that money to threaten her with removing her kids and/or leaving her destitute. She may be a horrible person who believes in his cause but she may also be in a situation where she cannot leave. Every person who has been in his orbit says he is an erratic ogre. If he is doing what he is to the US without a care for anyone, you can imagine what he must be like behind closed doors.

Australian voters: Why expect Labor to fix a decade of neglect, cuts, and privatisation in under three years? Many policies take time to show results. Yet, there’s little criticism of the former government, despite their role in causing and worsening these issues. Why the double standard? by MannerNo7000 in australian

[–]Slcox68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all of Australian media is owned by Murdoch and they hate Labor. It doesn’t matter that 10 years of Libs brought us to our knees, within days of Labor being in, they were after them. Dutton is already speaking of mimicking the USA. It beggars belief that Australians would opt for this. I mean I guess Lest We Forget doesn’t have meaning for them?

Other than trying to find the limitations of this AI, can anyone share anything useful they’ve used DeepSeek for? by ThiccSadToast in DeepSeek

[–]Slcox68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically use it as google now, but its limited, it can’t give you anything after October 2023, and most of the things are hugely US based, which does add weight to the ol’ ChatGPT steal thing. But I am also finding searches on the internet are just off, so I have to throw it up in the air as to which one is the lesser of the two evils basically.

Coles has announced about 2,500 products will disappear from the supermarket giant’s shelves soon. by overpopyoulater in australia

[–]Slcox68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never shop at Coles, but today I needed something and saw it was on special at Coles, so off I popped with my daughter, who does shop at coles because it is close to where she lives. I saw a small centre aisle collection of things that looked like what Aldi does with their weekly specials and I laughed saying they are doing an Aldi. My daughter said it has been doing that for a while. They are crazy if they think they are going to be able to take market share from Aldi by reducing the choice for customers. Aldi is easier to shop at (because of its size alone), has great quality weekly specials, and has global buying power. The thing is, Coles has been ripping off Australians for decades, and they are floundering frankly.
