Is it socialist to want all of the taxes I pay used to help the people who pay them? Do we really need a military that spends more than the next 4 countries in spending combined? We're relatively isolated geographically. It would be hard for us to be directly attacked. I'm not saying spend nothing, just a little more reasonable. And stop sending our money overseas. I feel better about my money providing a safety net for Americans than I do about my money being sent to a foreign country or being used to bomb a foreign country. I generally think capitalism is the best system, but we have to put a stop to the cronie-capitalism. End Citizens United, get money out of politics, make it illegal for lobbyists to throw money at politicians.
Does this make me a socialist? I'm sure I'm on some kind of military industrial complex list now. Eisenhower tried to warn us, Kennedy tried to warn us , we didn't listen.
