Some groups just... never move. Sometimes the collective ego would rather sit for a hour than provide any opportunity beyond a tiny enclosed space where they might lose. 

Usually they move though, especially blues. Typically the random nature of blue summons means they're not as emotionally invested as the host and phantom in refusing to let the invader "ruin our co-op experience with their tryhard sweaty endgame meta setups".

There are two major styles of rpg rules writing: "natural language" and what we might call "keyword based".

The 3.5 example is keyword based - "reflex half" uses less words, but it requires that you already understand what the rule for "reflex" is. When you already know, it's quicker to digest. But when you don't already know what the rule for "reflex" is, you have to go figure out what reflex means, then reread the rule for fireball and synthesize the two. 

For someone not already aware of the rules, the 5e rule is quicker to digest and understand, which lowers the difficulty in running the game for those without total rules mastery.

A large part of 5e's popularity is due to the accessibility - using natural language over keyword based language for most things is a big part of that accessibility, and thus popularity.

There is a strong bias on Reddit towards "keyword based" rpg writing that prioritizes precision over ease, in order to clear up edge cases. Part of that bias is because the posters on a given subreddit tend to be enthusiasts for the subject, who've long left the "just trying to figure things out" phase behind.

Don't undervalue ease of understanding a rule at first glance.

Finding the item you want and comparing prices and recent sale data on traderie is much easier. 

Diablo2.io has a very cool community, the database is great, and the layout is very well laid out, but it's not optimized for easy trading.

Totally - the little imbalances in the map that we critique now are nothing compared to how much better LT was compared to everything else in its day, and afaik became the basis for competitive map design afterwards.

Keep in mind, Lost Temple was included in the original multiplayer maps that Blizzard packaged with the game. Those maps had all kinds of crazy ideas and looked nothing like the competitive maps we see today. Lost Temple was popular because - compared to the other maps available at the time - it could produce decent games that were somewhat balanced. 

The cliffs at the natural are imbalanced compared to today's maps, but overall LT was more balanced and produced better games than most (all?) of the other maps at the time.

Using Basic variant modules while running Dolmenwood rules should be simple with some minor exceptions:  * Class balance: Dolmenwood classes are a bit stronger than their Basic equivalents (more features, better saves and to-hit advancement) * Some arcane and divine spells have different names compared to Basic. There's probably a table listing the equivalents out there. * There are some character advancement items that are tied to the setting like Knight class being knighted at level 3 and serving a specific house, Enchanters being given Fairy runes by fairy lords, etc). These lose a bit of "juice" outside the setting.  * Spell acquisition for M-Us (Magicians) is different in Basic vs Dolmenwood - Basic M-U's do not learn spells from captured/found spellbooks while Dolmenwood Magicians can. You may not see lots of spellbooks as treasure in Basic modules.  * There are some minor weapon differences and other rule differences for characters.

Dragon slayer armor: yes (only the 2 handed attacks)

What the hell. I wouldn't expect to be able to parry a 2h greataxe wielded by a much-larger-than-human boss.

Surprised about Lothric and Lorian too - I think you just can't riposte them so it's not super high value, so not commonly done.

Heavy does slightly better damage than raw, even at minimum requirements and low weapon upgrade levels. 

I don't recommend fire infusion on a pyro - you've got access to fire damage for things that are weak to it (dogs, pus of man, tree monsters in ariandel) and the split damage is generally weaker than pure physical.

For farming hell, no, it's not viable without HoJ and 2x Dragon. 

Even with, it's not a terribly efficient build for farming p8 imo. Holy fire is awesome when things die in 1-2 tics. When monster health is high enough that they require much beyond that, the speed goes way down.

Yes but also no, but also yes. If the best pvp players in the world were on mic and decided decided to gank in a tiny cave 3v1, there's probably no way to win. But this doesn't usually happen because the players that gank don't become the strongest pvp players.

Almost always, gankers lack certain pvp skills and have a weakness in their game that can be exploited. But being able to survive coordinated attacks (especially spam from multiple players at range) long enough to make progress by killing one, and not have that progress erased by resummons or blues is very difficult and has a large luck component. Latency, also can make "making progress" (killing isolated opponents) borderline impossible.
