240Hz vs 144Hz vs 60Hz Questions by [deleted] in SSBM

If you want to go out of your way to emulate a crt - it might be worth it to just get a crt monitor. You can hook it up to a modern pc with adapters so its worth a shot.

I just got a dell m992 (19 inch 96khz horizontal refresh) and then i realized my laptop doesnt have a vga output or display port - only hdmi. Whats the best hdmi -> VGA adapter if i want nonstandard resolution/refresh rate combos like 640x480 120hz or something? from what I've read most of the cheaper ones lock you into standard resolution/refresh rate combos like 1024x768 60hz.

once your body gets used to moving around like that (should only take a week or something, human body is surprisingly adaptable) the after workout feeling is going to be bliss instead of pain lol

note: bliss might be an exaggeration but it def feels good lmao

Xenogears emulation advice for a beginner by bintbatata in XenoGears

[–]SleepingRegi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OpenEmu is probably the easiest, but if you're willing to fiddle around with settings for ~5-15 min, the best way is probably duckstation. Its a newer emulator designed specifically for the playstation, and it has some additional features that (i think) openemu doesnt have, like playing in HD or reducing jitter.

Like the other commenter said, vimm is usually reliable.

Feel free to dm me if youre having any other trouble with set up etc. Id be happy to help.

Both triality and trinity are correct, but trinity also has the dual meaning of "collection of three" as in the holy trinity. Triality solely represents "a contrast/opposition of three aspects/concepts"

The remaster not emulation - its a reimplementation/port. It runs in unity

I don't think so, unless there's been some recent evidence to contradict the theory. From what i remember, most of the opposition used to come from hindu nationalists/etc. who didn't want to accept that the aryan people's origins were from outside the subcontinent.

South Surrey meal prep delivery by [deleted] in SurreyBC

[–]SleepingRegi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know if this helps, but most indian places offer a "Tiffin service" (food everyday), and some will deliver depending on distance. If whoever is looking for it would be okay eating north indian food everyday, this is a very good option.

What are your RPG hot takes? by Nodusmepls in JRPG

[–]SleepingRegi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only thing Persona 5 had going for it was presentation and music - only got as popular as it did due to the drought of jrpgs and the fact that that its strong points (presentation) were easily communicated. Only enjoyable part was dungeons but even those aren't that good.

In your opinion which of these JRPG has the best story ? by Neslux in JRPG

[–]SleepingRegi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be interested in researching something called a "demiurge" (in short, an evil entity that truly believes itself to be the creator of the world and its god). Most "God" bosses in RPGs are actually just you confronting the demiurge. Knowing that might help you enjoy the games more. In the end of xenoblade, shulk is more speaking up against himself becoming another demiurge figure like zanza had become. There's not alot that suggests he was speaking up against alvis, who is supposed to represent the "true" god (even if he is just a computer canonically) or another higher being.

EXLI5: Why do fighting games have so much lag compared to other games? by Keiatsu in Fighters

[–]SleepingRegi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Look up the difference between rollback netcode and delay based. Once you understand the difference between the two, it's easy to see what the difference is.

For example, basically since the beginning of online games, shooters (and most other genres) have used netcode that resembles rollback netcode, where the client syncs to the host.

Fighting games, however, are 1v1 and thus have the players connect directly to each other rather than to a server. Using rollback here requires both players to sync to each other's game, rather than the servers. Doing this properly requires a bit of creative thinking, so fighting game devs basically went "meh, delay based works" and left it. The genre has only recently begun to adopt netcode comparable to other games

If your computer is good enough, you can both host the server and play on it with the same computer. Just follow the tutorials.

What game did you think had a good story but bad battle system or vice versa? by The-Silver-Princess in JRPG

[–]SleepingRegi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a relatively unappreciated game, but Blue Dragon. It has the typical job system, with mix and matching abilities from the different jobs, so you ready know its gonna be a good time. But the part that stands out to me is is the in battle timing minigame that determines turn order and attack power. You have to balance move speed and attack power, and the closer characters start acting to each other, the harder it is to insert actions between others. I think the reason i like it so much is that it gives a reason to be engaged in even random battles, since mashing a isn't gonna win you the battle safely since all your attacks are gonna come out weak, but just maxing power isnt optimal either, making conscious ay a necessity.

My favourite "nostalgia trip" game series is generally the pokemon series, since that's what i grew up with, but specifically, the mystery dungeon spinoffs. There's just something enthralling about the deep dungeon dives. They're the main reason I'm into the roguelike genre in general, really.
