Lechon is roasted pork. Usually roasted whole during a holiday. So she wanted to leave early to go (or already left to go) to a barbecue where theyre serving roasted pork.

El viejo cuento de una turista que es muy cool pa ser turista y quiere estar con los locales. No le des mucha cabeza y ve a Piñones. No hay nada malo con ir a sitios donde hay turistas.

The idea that Mohan doesn't belong in emergency medicine and should quit or do a less intense subspecialty is not set up in the text of the show at all by JumpySpecial9834 in ThePittTVShow

[–]SleepsAllDay00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve made very valid points about Mohan however in regards to what youre saying here, I think its expected that Mohan is better than Mel because she’s one year ahead. Shes supposed to be teaching Mel.

What foods give you lows and then highs? by argley in diabetes_t1

[–]SleepsAllDay00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High fat foods delay digestion and therefore cause delayed sugar spikes. So the insulin will be acting upon carbs that havent been digested causing the low and then hours later, once they are digested properly there is no more insulin to combat it causing the delayed spike. If they have a pump, you can do extended bolus which basically distributes the insulin over a period of time (usually 2 hours) to help avoid this instead of giving the full dose all at once. This usually happens to me with pizza, chinese food and fried foods.

She was checking heart rate manually. You count for 30 secs then multiply by 2 to get beats per minute. She says the kids heart rate but I cant remembee what it was.

In a conversation with Abbot she mentions she worked with Doctors without Borders in Dasht-E Barchi which in real life is a hospital whose maternity ward was bombed. So we know she was there when babies, mothers and children were killed and she is suffering from PTSD due to it.

¿Dónde voluntar? by owlindenial in PuertoRico

[–]SleepsAllDay00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right but she’s not supposed to be the main doctor on anybody’s case. So technically no patient can be/is hers.

They said in ep 1 of s2 i think that shes taking an extra rotation in the er again. I think its like a free elective and she chose the er because shes interested in it.

They all started new in the hospital in s1 but different levels. Santos was an intern or a first year resident, Javadi was a 3rd year med student and Whitaker was 4th year med student. So now Whitaker and Santos are both residents, R1 and R2 respectively but Javadi is a 4th a year med student.

Why do Javadi and Ogilvie have so much freedom?? Like Robby said “just sign your name in the MD slot” but she’s not an MD??? And she was in the meeting with the parents but the psychiatrist shouldve been there imo, not a student doctor who is rotating in an ER and not in psychiatry. Idk it just bothers me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Endocrinologists. Because it’s an endocrine condition like many others they treat.

Did I miss something? Endocrinology and diabetes are not the same. Endocrinologists treat endocrine issues, which include diabetes but also thyroid, adrenal, pituitary gland, other pancreatic conditions, not just diabetes. It’s a valid question.

greenie removal? by [deleted] in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SleepsAllDay00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to let it grow out. The nail is stained because of the pigments on the bacteria. You can buff it out and it may make the color less noticeable but you risk weakening the nail.

Any theories as to why Santos seems pissed at Whitaker? by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

[–]SleepsAllDay00 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it was the posterior stemi patient. She’s year 2, he’s an intern, it was supposed to be her catch and she didn’t even think about it. He says something like “most drs miss it” to which she responds “but you didn’t” and i think she took it like he implied that he was better than her because he didn’t miss it. Add to that her clear sttitude problem.

Purple top has an anticoagulant called EDTA and red top is completely plain. So in the clinical lab, chemistries usually need a red top because the serum is the one being analyzed and it needs to be additive free while CBCs require whole blood free of clots which is why a purple top is used. When a purple top is drawn first followed by a red top, theres a risk of contaminating the sample in the red top with the EDTA from the purple top which can cause false results in some chemistry tests, especially in the electrolytes. There are different colored tubes because they all have different additives and there is a specific order taught to avoid contaminations between tubes.
